My family and I (Me, hubby, and baby) are taking a trip over the labor day weekend and are taking our '92 s 10 blazer since my '94 astrovan is in need of a water pump. "Maggie" (as she is affectionately called) has about 160k on her, we've owned her 3.5 years, and I'd like to know what kind of mpg an "antique" her age should be getting, assuming she's in good running shape. She drives fine, is good on the highway, and other than some valve covers needing replaced, is overall a good running blazer. Should I get her in for a tune up before we leave, will that increase the mpg any? Or is it not worth the money for a tune up and can we get away with just a few small things (pleeeese say yes!, that van is driving us near BROKE!). I'm sure an oil change will get done, and the air filter too. To shorten this, I just want to get the most mpg out of her without spending so much before a short trip. Someone PLEASE help, I've got a car parts salesman for a hubby, and sometimes (though I'd never say it to him) he likes to tell me Maggie needs things that I think she might be able to do without just so he can "play".....;0) Set me straight! Thanks! Antique_Maggie
