6 speed automatic and Nav by jaxs1

Someone added a rumor to this board saying they believed a 6 speed automatic and factory nav would be coming to the Soul someday sometime in the future.

The six speed adding a few more mpg as well as a quieter highway ride would make this really attractive a I would even think about getting one.
Crash test results are also extra important in smaller cars, so I need to see how that turns out.

Factory nav in vehicles in this cheap price class isn't really important, but it would be clever if they designed a cubby (with a door to hide contents within so you don't need keep moving the device to store it out of view of thieves) in the dash to mount and charge a portable nav.

With a charging port and aux input for audio to the car speakers, it should probably only add $150 or less instead of $1500+ to the price.
Kia: Do this.

To their credit at least Kia *is* offering a sunroof. Amazingly it looks like Nissan has punted on one for the Cube - they are more interested in chrome grille bars! I could find no mention of it as an option unless they are hiding the ball. They really don't get it. Part of the reason the Element has went from okay to probably soon to be dropped is no electric sunroof option over the driver area. They have a wanky rear popup one on the AWD models only. Sigh ... Nissan blew it with the sunroof on the Xterra and apparently here we go again with the Cube.

to each is own I guess. I personally hate sunroofs. they cut into headroom, make noise, and cost extra. I had one and never used it kept the shade closed cause the sun would shine through and be distracting. they also don't help the resale value. I hate it when they include them in models i'm interested in w/ no option without. they should be aftermarket dealer installed imo. element isn't doing good because of the gas mileage and suicide doors(they're not convienent w/ kids).

The Soul ! has the sunroof standard, but it's optional on the + and the Sport. So it's possible to get a well-equipped Soul without the sunroof. I like that the upgraded stereo (standard on the ! and Sport) is offered on the + model for a reasonable $400 (and it doesn't require the Sunroof option)....individual options are a good thing! I hate being forced to choose one or more options that I don't want just to get the feature that I do want! I was checking out the new Mazda3 and was interested in the Bose stereo system, but the only way to get it is to order an option package that also includes a Moonroof and 6-CD changer!

MT Comparo: Kia Soul, Scion xB & Nissan Cube by igozoomzoom

The May issue of Motor Trend has a comparison of the Kia Soul Sport, Scion xB and Nissan Cube 1.8S. The Scion placed 1st, Kia 2nd and Nissan 3rd.

Here's what they said about the Kia Soul Sport-

"Solid A for effort. Stunning design makes it the unanimous undergraduate pick. More powertrain refinement and a couple of tweaks will easily put this at the head of the class!"

Oddly, the Soul was the only one with a manual transmission. The Scion had a 4-speed automatic and the Nissan had the optional CVT.

Has anyone seen a review of the Soul with automatic transmission? I've only seen reviews and performance tests of models with the 5-speed manual...

I agree with you...why do we have to have the package just to get the Bose system! Each option should be seperate if you want it. I LOVE the Mazda 3 and I am struggling between the two, though I have never driven the Soul but I know how Mazda's drive...I have had 3 in a row! The Soul will have to be peppy enough...I know it won't be as good as the 3 but at least lively enough to win out...otherwise the 3 it is. I am not in the market quite yet but hoping to be a year from now. I have to have the sunroof...would love a huge open skyroof!

I guess I'm not the only person cross-shopping the Mazda3 and the Kia Soul. I like them because they're both 5-doors.

I actually have an '06 Mazda3 5-door now that I still love. But it's a manual transmission and I'm sick of shifting in Atlanta gridlock! I'll probably end up with a 2010 Mazda3 5-door (automatic). As much as I like the look and price/value of the Soul, I don't think it will have enough power with the 4-speed automatic.

IF the Mada GT didn't have that goofy smile in it ,I'd consider it.
So, Y'all take a look at the 2008.5 Speed grill that should be on all the Mazda 2010 models
The Kia Soul is better lookin' then a Mazda 3.The kia needs to be tweeked.get rid of that 4 spd auto with a 5spd and a 2.0 liter with some low end torque and a 6 speed manual that has a short throw.

The best deal now is the incentives on the Speed 3 ,2008.5 .
However you might want to wait for the VW GTI or Golf they are look good.

I love the way VWs look and drive, but I've never known anyone to make it to 100k miles (TDI excluded) without a MAJOR mechanical failure!

I'll play it safe and stick with Japanese...or South Korean...
