#1 of 2 Fuel pump question on a 93 MPV by reverend_mikey

Recently my 93 MPV started acting like it was running out of gas while driving down the interstate. I pulled over, checked things out then it started back up. I drove to a gas station and filled it up and carried on. Now the low fuel light comes on when the gauge is showing a 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank and the van starts to run rough like she's starved for fuel again.

My question is I think it is in the fuel pump area but is there a different sensor on the pump for the gauge and one for the fuel light? Is there a separate fuel pressure regulator someplace that maybe I should check first? My Haynes manual is a bit sketchy on this one.

Just for FYI in case needed, it is the V-6 with just under 200k on the clock, 2wd model. She's been a good van that I hope to get more miles out of but things are starting to show their age now.

I replaced the fuel pump on our 92 and I noticed there are three wires going to the pump. An electrician said one wire was ground, one was for the pump and the other was for the gauge. Maybe it is a loose connection at the plug or a broken wire. If you take out the middle seat you can get to the fuel pump, which is better than having to drop the tank. It does involve taking out the molding to lift the carpet though. Maybe if you lifted the pump out to check if the float got stuck and then put it all back together again. I think I paid 55 for a new fuel pump on Ebay
God Bless
