The screw fell out of my remote entry key for my 2004 Aveo and my son subsequently lost the "buttons" (that operate the remote lock/unlock capability). My local Chevy dealerships tell me I cannot purchase just the buttons since parts are not available for the remote key but then when they look for a part number for the entire key assembly they indicate that the part is no longer available. Anyone know how to get the just the buttons for the remote on the integrated key or how I can get an entire key (that I can then use to supply the needed buttons)?

A new key for an Aveo with the remote keyless entry system costs close to $200 (just under $150 for the key and just under $50 to program it for your car). That's not a trivial expense to fix a problem caused by a missing $0.05 piece of plastic. I suggest checking a local electronics store. They're likely to have all sorts of switches and buttons, and if you're lucky you'll find something that'll fit.

Of course the driver did not have insurance, a driver's license or a valid license plate...but he passed a field sobriety test (even thoug he admitted to having at least two beers and several shots of tequila that afternoon) ... oh well... |
