It was brought to my attention by Nissan management that only now does the 2009 Maxima share the D platform with the Altima. Previous Maxima have been based on the FF-L platform. Sorry for mistake.

Does anyone know if the new maxima will use only premium gas? Also, when will the actual price be announced?

I understand that it will run regular gas at a 10-15% loss in HP.

The Maxima and Acura TL have long been competitors. Any thoughts on how the all new 2009 versions of these cars will stack up?

The 2009 Maxima and 2009 Acura TL should stack up well against each other. Both cars have 290-300 hp through the front wheels and both cars have top notch infotainment system. In addition, both cars should have an MSRP of $37-$38K.

Acura has the better warranty- 4yr 50K vs. Maxima 3yr 36K

Assuming the 09 TL is released with its all wheel drive system, (SH-AWD), all bets are off. Acura TL's will be competing with Infiniti M's, not Nissan Maxima's.

Are you crazy?! A TL matching up with an Infiniti M?! The TL is WAY outclassed by the M, which is comparable to the 5 Series or E-Class. In fact, the M does circles around their non-performance models. I wouldn't even want to witness the slaughter of a TL by that of an Infiniti G35, which is more porportionate to the TL than an M.

Acura folks always think too highly of their FWD over-rated and over-priced cars. Glorified Hondas!

The '09 Max looks a lot better than what pictures show. I had the opportunity to see and touch one a few hours ago. Lost my appetitie for Maximas until I saw the '09.

Awesome....can you please provide more details on your "09 maxima" siting?? was the car for sale or a pre-production unit??

Hopefully, this siting means the vehicle will be available very soon, but local dealers have been telling me July or August, yet the website says June and I believe the first production runs began a few weeks ago.
