Since the introduction of the 2002 Nissan Altima, things have looked bleak for the Nissan Maxima. With both cars sharing the same corporate D-platform and offering the same VQ-Series V6, Maxima sales have declined and now the Altima outsells it by a margin of 5-to-1. | The new Maxima is positively ghastly. | |

Headlight treatment is shocking...Did they really wantted to do this to Maxima? Is it because infiniti/nissan interiors have started to look similar so apparently they want to look different somewhere? Following Murano's crocodile grille, this is a second design gaffe by Nissan! |

| Looks better than the older models. | |
I am not sure what to say about the 09 Maxima. It certainly looks different. I really don't like the front of it, and it just looks a little odd, like some how all the puzzle pieces didn't match right. It is like it has many design factors rolled into one, and it cannot decide which it wants to be. It looks morphed. I was never a fan of the altima's, but I was of the 08 maxima models, very classy, and was the best sedan model Nissan had out in terms of looks. Interior looks great and has great fit and finish, better than the 08. The whole car looks odd, Bulky, like a slug. and I am not sure what to think, and just to think were going to have to look at this for how many years? What happened? I really don't want to say ugly, but different?

It was brought to my attention by Nissan management that only now does the 2009 Maxima share the D platform with the Altima. Previous Maxima have been based on the FF-L platform. Sorry for mistake. -Chris |

Does anyone know if the new maxima will use only premium gas? Also, when will the actual price be announced?

The Maxima and Acura TL have long been competitors. Any thoughts on how the all new 2009 versions of these cars will stack up?
