I have heard rumors that the Pontiac G3 (rebadged Aveo) is comping to the US. Does anyone know if it's true? I think it would be a horrible mistake and a huge step backwards. GM should be turning Pontiac into the RWD performance division like they have been promising. The G8 and Solstice is a big step in the right direction so I don't know why they would want to take a step back with the G3. Also since it seems that besides the grille and tail lights this car is identical to the Aveo. Badge engineering is not a good idea. I understand that in this day and age you need a fuel efficient car to sell but a RWD G5 replacement that could also be a 1-series fighter would do the trick.

With gas prices rising and demand shifting from V8/RWD vehicles to small four-cylinder vehicles, adding the G3 would be a great way to keep Pontiac afloat. It's great to pit an American brand against the likes of BMW, but you can't do that overnight. Even BMW has Mini (a small FWD four-cylinder) being sold in their dealerships. Unless Buick-Pontiac-GMC wants to add ANOTHER brand name to their dealerships, adding a G3 to the Pontiac lineup isn't the worst idea ever.

My local dealer has 'em. Ugh. BTW why is this thread in the G8 Forum? Might as well mix the Aveo threads with the Corvettes.

| Just another of the many reasons to drop the Pontiac lineup entirely. | |
