2006 3s or 2005 3i? by mazdanut

I want to replace my 2002 Protege 5 AT it. I drive 50/50 highway/city and the mileage is unimpressive.

I'm looking at a 2006 3S with 5 sp auto (21000 miles) and a 2005 3i 4 sp auto (36000). The EPA figures are 22 28 for the 2006 S and 23 31 for the 2005 i.

They are so close that I'm leaning towards the S. It has moonroof and 6 CD changer. The first offer by the dealer on the s was 15,300 and there is a $300-500 gas card with purchase. The 2005 is listed at 13,800 but I haven't started
started bidding with the dealer on it yet. I think I can get it for 12,300. These look like good prices when I spec them out with TMV. The 2005 has power options, cruise, alloy wheels and ABS brakes.

Both dealers are offering $5000 for the Protege, it has 67000 miles and is in good condition.

Should I sell the Protege instead of trading? The only problem I have there is that I really don't want to lie if someone asks me about my MPG experience with the Protege.

My ride is at 60,000 miles, 2002 as well. I got the first run with factory leather, clutchless shifting, side bags. I waited a half year to get it after falling in love with the profile. I love every minute of driving. I've heard the M3 will not deliver the same experience.
I'm planning on keeping mine until it dies, and expect to take it past 200,000 miles.
I did it with a Volvo wagon, a Toyota Cressida, a Dodge Maxivan.

I can't wait to get in the car. Every minute on the road is fun. The car lines are better than the M3

I do buyouts after a 48 month lease. This round it cost me $ 8,200. My wife's Miata same deal. Buyout was $ 10,200. We have owned three Miatas, including one that was 10 years old. We have never done more than basic maintenance on any of our Mazdas.

Try driving the used cars you are considering, but throw in the 2002 in the comparison.

The P5 is a once in a decade design. It is limited in circulation so you have a special look, you are not part of the crowd.

This link will show you my passion. Compare to the Lexus IS 300 design.
What a buy!

Love the machine you have!
