There's a new article on C&D on the spy shots of the new Mazda 3. In that article they relay that they are disappointed with the new dynamics of the softer new 6. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/car_shopping/latest_news_reviews/2- 010_mazda_3_spied Seems pretty consistent amongst the print media that Mazda has compromised quite a bit in regards to its zoom-zoom philosophy. This is also in stark contrast to the Euro/JDM spec Mazda 6 which has been called a bit too harsh/sporty by the Euro press. They are used to harsher cars so that shows what direction Mazda went overseas. However, the biggest news in the article about the 2010 Mazda3 is that it may come with the 1.6 L rotary. I find that hard to believe, but an interesting thought for sure.

Just replaced a 04 Passat B5.5 with a 08 Mazda6 and can tell you they are very similar in size. Will not miss the dash rattles, expensive oil changes, premium gas, peeling soft touch areas, clogged sunroof drains, oil smell in cabin they could not fix. Recalls for fuel lines, seat heaters, brake light switch etc. BTW the Passat uses an ASIN 6 speed tip, as does the 08 Mazda6 S. Not sure what the 09 Mazda6 uses. Many people with 06 Passats did have transmission issues. The best 6 speed transmission is the ZF6 ( 6HP21) in the BMW 335i and now also in the Genesis.

Wholesalers also tend to pay the money for Jetta's and there are many times where I take losses on Passat's. |
