Strange names on the May leaderboard by felonious

Has anyone else noticed some very odd usernames on the May leaderboard? Either people have run out of creativity en masse, we have a new group of three-year-olds playing, or people have been creating one-off accounts to manipulate the system... Seems shady to me.

We keep a close eye on the CSX accounts, although I can't speak to the username choices!

I was thinking about that too... but at the same time, I rather have them create multiple accounts, then caught by Mike.... less competition that way!

I'm probably stranger in person than my name. Then again, most people expect their computer guy to be a little weird. I don't disappoint them

There are two users in the top 50 that have substantially similar names, only one has about four or five more characters. These names are nothing from pop culture, etc., so far as I am aware, so the likelihood of that similarity seems highly unlikely. I would strongly suspect that both are from the same geographic area and use different ISPs until proven otherwise.

The only problem with the 'nefarious names' theory is that those accounts showing up on the leaderboard aren't worth much financially, and they're not moving in terms of wealth. It's really hard to manipulate a stock with no money and no change in worth.

Perhaps. But if they were manipulated collectively.... One thing I noticed is that they all seem to go up and down within a couple hundredths of a percent, which leads me to believe they're duplicates in the assets held, despite the obvious differences in account value. I find it hard to believe that the spreads would be so uniform otherwise. I leave it up to the system administrator here to check the geography of the ISPs and the allocations, since none of us are psychic.
