I've noticed that the Priuses are stacking up in dealers lots around here. If gas doesn't go up soon, (I paid $1.59 for reg. this morning here in Indiana) they will become very expensive boat anchors.

Now I see that Toyota is not going through with plans to build them in Mississippi. I guess they just couldn't stand to see those dollars stay in America.

The problem I see here is lack of foresight by Toyota. Their high paid managers should have known that oil and gas prices were going to crash. What a bunch of morons. They should all be fired.

No Prius's here by tiff_c

There is still a waiting list here in my part of New England! MSRP, no discounts and a waiting list, so they can't be piling up too high yet.
Next year will be different, the economy will probably hit bottom and car sales will drop big time and then the cars will be back to invoice just to get them to move.
I just bought a Fit as I was so sick of the Toyota dealers attitude about the Prius.

That's too bad about the Dealer because the Prius is more than a hybrid . It's a kind of phenomina. Once you have one you become a pleasantly obcessive devotee. The Fit is by all means a great car. I've owned several Hondas going all the way back to the delightfull Honda 600 Coupe 1970. 2 cyl. air-cooled skateboard with 10" wheels. She got 42 mpgs back when gas was well under a buck if I remember right.

Here is a link to an unofficial ( presumably ) 3 minute commercial for the new 2010 Prius.

link to 2010 Prius spot

How he did this is beyond me. Who allowed an actual new 2010 Prius to be used in this spot?

And you predicted that? You could have made a fortune in the market crash.

I really like this car a lot because it is such an advanced forward
future car, not to mention the best mpg in its class. I recently rented
a 2009 Prius and it was totally awesome. It also has a little get up and go
power acceleration too. I am planning to own one this year but for now
I just have to wait. To those who can afford to buy one, I would highly recommend
this car. It is also a very fun car to drive !

I totally agree with kdhspyder's comment about rodent damage to the Toyota Prius. In the past year I have already had to spend several thousand dollars for rodent damage repair of my Toyota Prius. Once again the Prius is in a shop being worked on. Although the technician has yet to isolate the damage, the claim is the yet to be determined problem is once again due to "rodent damage" and the cost of repair is over $1000 and growing daily.

Furthermore, if the problem cannot be isolated, which is currently the case, then how does Toyota know that it is rodent damage??

Another issue is the difficulty of repairing the Prius when Prius technicians are very limited. We live in rural Wyoming and the closest Prius technician is about 130 miles away. Thus, when the Prius stops running because of supposed "rodent damage" we have to have it towed 130 miles for repair.

My advice to anyone considering purchasing a Prius is: 1) They had better make sure that they live in a location with no rodents (zero rodents) at all. Otherwise they are buying a nightmare; 2) Make sure that there is a Prius technician within a few miles of your home and expect very high maintenance costs; 3) do not expect to come out ahead on cost by increased mileage because the cost of repair will negate any gain due to increased mileage..

The Prius is a great car when it is running, but when it stops running the repair cost is very high and if the the problem is "rodent damage", then you will pay a very high price.

Be aware that Toyota, if contacted at their 1-800-331-4331 customer service hot line, will claim that there is no history of rodent damage problem associated with the Prius.

You are on your own when you purchase a Toyota Prius!!

Have you set mouse traps? I had a "nest" in my TCH but it was found before they did any damage. Mice tend to try and get into my garage during the winter months so I simply set traps and kill the little critters before they take up housekeeping in my car.

After all this rant what you're saying is that you want 'rodent protection warranty', right?

I'm at 115,000 mi now and nothing's gone wrong, period. Rodents don't apparently live on the beach .
