Comparison Test: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 vs. 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt - Though the Mustang Bullitt is 637 pounds lighter than the Challenger and has shorter overall gearing, the mighty Challenger ruled on the drag strip. The Hemi simply pulled its weight, even in this 4,154-pound wrapper.

| I'll admit up front that I love Mustangs. I like them all, old and new. I'm also impressed by the Challenger and love the styling. But when it comes down to buying a muscle car I still think the Mustang has the best bang for my buck. The Challenger is more expensive, more exclusive, heavier, and with 400hp pulls off slightly better track times. If I poured in that extra 5k into some mods I might be able to pull off some pretty impressive times. But that's only if I'm being performance minded, otherwise I'll settle for a stock GT and save my money (not to mention the extra dough it'll take to fill up at the pump). I still like the Challenger, I'm just waiting for some improvements to be hammered out. | |
| still rather have a new camaro that is if i wanted a muscle car.... | |

I've got a stock 2005 mustang gt with just a steeda cold air intake and tune. I consistently get 0-60 times of 5.0 -5.2 and a 1/4 mile of about 13.2 at 107mph. Other than having 17"wheels and dont understand why mine is faster than most of these tests.

Read this it's very good:http://www.mustangmonthly.com/featuredvehicles/mump_0512_2005_2006_ford_mus- tang_modifications_ecu_exhaust/index.html |

| Don't you think the smaller hemi (375 hp) would be a better test. You people run the most lop sided tests of all. | |

Only the Idiots at Edmunds would compare a 425 hp Hemi to a 315 hp Mustang. I paid $30,315 for my Bullitt. My friend paid $45,000 for a base 425 hp Challenger. The Dodge Dealer would not budge. They were also very arrogant. Why didn't they test the Challenger against the less expensive $42,000 Mustang Shelby KR? I love how Edmunds also forgets to mention How the Challenger takes premium fuel only and gets 18 mpg compared to 23 mpg from the Bullitt and it takes regular fuel. I guess anyone could get a job testing cars. It's beyond belief how stupid these people are.
