You said 2012, which is your opinion. I never said anything about a diesel engine for the Outlander. I was simply saying a diesel engine for Mitsubishi vehicles. Lancer will get it first in 2010. Did I mention Outlander? NO. That's because there is no mention of an Outlander Diesel just yet. But then you said you doubt it

To quote you:
I doubt it. Only very few brands (e.g. Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, Audi) have managed to pass the emission regulations for Diesel engines in the USA. Mitsubishi will need at least 5-years to produce a low toxic gas emission.

My personal opinion Diesel will no be available in a degree like the petrol engine until 2012.

You and I were not even talking about a diesel Outlander but Diesel engine in general.

Then you come back saying you said something about a diesel Outlander by 2012. You were talking about diesel engine in general. Read your posts dude and also read mine, and understand it.

OK, I thought we were in a 2009 Outlander forum. So you see that was my confusion. I think someone asked (in the 2009 Outlander column) if Mitsubishi expect to provide a Diesel engine (i.e. for the Outlander in my understanding) so why to talk about the Lancer (?).

Now we're all confused, so let's just move on shall we?

Thanks for your single liner. You might want to read the old posts too before you make your intelligent single liner comment. The discussion is not about the Lancer, but you didn't seem to pick that up. Wanna join the fun? You're on. Lets see what you have to say about diesel engines from Mitsubishi then since you seem to have figured it out.Maybe you can enlighten us by your wisdom.

You know steve, this isn't about the 2009 Outlander. Look at the first few posts. That's not even the 2009 Outlander. Somebody was confused and thought it was an 09 Outlander but its actually NOT. FYI.

Well, we already have a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander discussion.

We could retire this one and start over when the next model year rolls around....

The fact is that in Japan is being announced the debut of a 2009 Outlander. The fact that this 2009 Outlander may have minor addition doesn’t invalidate that it is a new model to be sold after October 2008 (as a 2009 model) in the USA. Few differences exist between the 2007 and 2008 Outlander but does not invalidate that the 2008 Outlander is a new version of the 2007 Outlander and it cannot be established that the 2007 model is equal than model 2008. Model 2008 Outlander has standard 115V outlet, new style of the third row of seats, 7-spoke wheels instead of 5-spoke wheels (only in the 2007 model), heated door mirrors for AWD 2008 models and so on.

Perhaps the 2009 model has more user-friendly mechanism to collapse the third row of seats, or the second row collapsing flat into the car floor, who knows. But because a member passionately defends that there is not a 2009 model (already announced in Japan) and immediately encouraged the moderator to delete the photos of the 2009 Outlander model in this column because this member said that the photos are model 2007 and period. I find this action scaring in addition that the moderator is taken side without explaining why this is done.

We're North American centric in the forum, and if there's no '09 for sale and we don't know what the specs are, we're really into Future Vehicles territory. Unless there really are significant changes from one model year to another, breaking down the general model discussions year by year scatters the threads. Lots of questions and solutions apply to several model years.

But that's why I asked....
