First Look: 2009 Ford Flex - The 2009 Ford Flex might be another crossover, but at least it's not boring. (more)
First Drive: 2009 Ford Flex - First Impressions: If you like the look of the Flex, there's nothing in the way that it functions that should prevent you from getting it. (more)
Full Test: 2009 Ford Flex Limited AWD - Bottom Line: As everyday transportation, it's the best, most comfortable Ford you can buy. (more)
Good looking car, but high price and low fuel economy in poor financial time for many households. Not what most people are looking for right now.

I think it will end up being very popular. Not 100,000 sales popular, but I feel it will get a good share. I also think it will bring quite a few people down from a full sized SUV. Ford might not like losing Expedition sales, but I bet they won't mind gaining Tahoe buyers. With gas where it is, I think people will choose a vehicle that looks hip, but get better gas milleage. I think moms of the skateboarding croud will get pressured by the kids to buy such a different looking vehicle.

Yeah, the reviewer is right, this thing looks like a huge coffin, and to me, unless you're into the macabre, is not a compliment. This wagon in my opinion is not going to do well. It will be a sales disaster. Ford should concentrate more on fuel efficient vehicles, like Toyota and Honda. Gas in California is almost $4.00/gallon. Who is going to buy this? Sorry, but it's ugly, too expensive and gets poor mileage. For those who really need a "large" SUV, look at the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot. They're relatively roomy and fuel efficient, and a whole lot more practical. The Ford Flex, like a coffin, will get buried like one. |

Pilot: Fuel Tank Capacity: 21 gal.; EPA Mileage Estimates: 17 mpg / 23 mpg; Range in Miles: 357 mi. / 483 mi Highlander: Fuel Tank Capacity: 19.2 gal.; EPA Mileage Estimates: 17 mpg / 23 mpg; Range in Miles: 326.4 mi. / 441.6 mi. Flex according to my order guide has EPA Mileage Estimate of 17 mpg / 24 mpg. SO I guess this is another one of those magical moments when less (Pilot/Highlander at 23 mpg) is more. OH and the Flex has 155 cubic feet of interior volume. |
