I would guess a vehicle of that ilk would strain to pull off a 20 second zero to sixty mph time. Perhaps some kind of diesel hybrid technology might do that mileage, but if Ford actually had the corporate conjones to produce that vehicle Americans would hold their nose and run in the other direction. And the Mazda 5 doesn't come anywhere close to that mileage, it is more like 20 mpg. The Honda Fit barely gets that mileage and it is two rows, tiny and light. Why don't you request a perpetual motion machine from Ford because that is just as likely as the "If" that you have proposed. Where do these Edmund's chat room " experts " come from, better check with the engineering department next time, nybanker.

Replying to: charlesb (Oct 19, 2008 8:28 pm) There's a lot of cars in Europe and Asia that will do just that...have 3 rows and get better than 30mpg. BTW...my Ford Freestyle will get in the upper 20s MPG on the highway if I keep the speed around 65mph, and the Mazda5 will get above 30MPG in the same driving conditions. You might want to do a little research or google searches prior to posting.

i like the flex very much so much i might get one my windstar got 26.7 on a highway drive from western nc to annapolis md the flex has better areodinamics so i bet around 27.1 with the flex FORD ARE YOU LISTENING!!!!!!!!!!!!! take the next gen focus strech it give it the 171hp 2.5 four cylnder and six gears make it nice inside sony sound six seats... and finally maket look good like a streched mazda 3 or lovered edge make it sporty 30mpg fully loded 25k Nice but good job on the flex |
