Ford seems to be borrowing a lot of its vehicle names lately from Gillette shaving products what with the Fusion, Edge, and now the Flex----i think the next one will definitely be the Mach 3 Turbo.......you heard it here first

...well... Ford did have the Mustang Mach 1, so it's not so out there.
As long as they don't have Ford Lady Bic or a Ford Sensitive Skin.

Another Edsel? by larym

Good looking car, but high price and low fuel economy in poor financial time for many households. Not what most people are looking for right now.

The types of people needing this type of auto (such as myself), are those with multiple children or extended families and who cannot afford to shell out high dollars for such a vehicle just to look a little trendy.... Millions of minivan drivers don't do so for the look of them, that's for sure! And they certainly don't drive minivans for the fuel economy either. I think FORD will miss the mark with this one unless they drop the price. If they do drop the price, they could really capture a larger portion of that market segment, as it is an interesting alternative to the minivan. Or offer a HYBRID option to the vehicle. I'd consider one, but not at the current estimated price!

I think it will end up being very popular. Not 100,000 sales popular, but I feel it will get a good share. I also think it will bring quite a few people down from a full sized SUV. Ford might not like losing Expedition sales, but I bet they won't mind gaining Tahoe buyers. With gas where it is, I think people will choose a vehicle that looks hip, but get better gas milleage. I think moms of the skateboarding croud will get pressured by the kids to buy such a different looking vehicle.

Like a coffin! by johnzocco

Yeah, the reviewer is right, this thing looks like a huge coffin, and to me, unless you're into the macabre, is not a compliment. This wagon in my opinion is not going to do well. It will be a sales disaster. Ford should concentrate more on fuel efficient vehicles, like Toyota and Honda. Gas in California is almost $4.00/gallon. Who is going to buy this? Sorry, but it's ugly, too expensive and gets poor mileage. For those who really need a "large" SUV, look at the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot. They're relatively roomy and fuel efficient, and a whole lot more practical. The Ford Flex, like a coffin, will get buried like one.

This is part of the problem with this country today... Why would the kids dictate what the parents drive? The parents are SUPPOSED to be the ones in charge, not the kids. I guess that's just how messed up our society has become.
