I have owned Honda cars in the past and have been able to buy the Honda Care extended warranty online for a huge discount. WHen I bought my Rabbit this weekend the deal tries to sell me a warranty for like $4,000 which was vw's own.   I would like to get one but I wanted to know if anyone knows where they can be purchased online, I want one that is covered by VW not a third party. My local dealership has a link for getting a quote.   Just so you know the premium they are charging you to get the coverage from VW...Our 2005.5 Jetta has 25,000 miles and my credit union indicated the following to me:   This vehicle is eligible for a 5 yra warranty. You can either go up to 100,000 miles for 2,012 or if a total of 80,000 miles will be enough the price is 1,529. Both have a zero deductible and are equivalent to the factory bumper to bumper that is on it.   When new the price would have been 84mo/80K=$1178 or 84mo/100K=$1563   My credit union website says their extended warranties are "Underwritten by InterContinental Warranty Services, Inc."   By the way, if you drive few miles like we do but keep your car a long time, you might want to consider waiting. In my case by waiting I can get coverage for 5 yrs from purchase of the coverage, I was told it can be purchased any time before 36000 miles. By delaying I could get 4 years from the warranty that came with the car and then 5 years from the extended...so up to 9 years. If we had bought right away coverage would only go to 7 years. I don't know if all of them work this way though. I probably won't actually buy, but I plan to take another look at this next year. I also had planned to look into the cost from my dealer, but have not yet done so.   Hope that helps.
