Hello Friends, I was in a market for a new car with a budget of about $30k. I primarily wanted a good looking coupe/car. I had narrowed down to the following: 1. Mitsubishi Eclipse spyder - This car looks real cool. But has not got good reviews from any consumer reports and has poor visibility 2. Mitsubishi eclipse coupe 2. Nissan Altima Coupe - Great interiors. Great reviews and reliable 3. Pontiac Solstice - Cool looking car but top needs to be folded in manually. 4. Honda Accord Coupe - This is probably the best one but I don't like the way it looks. 5. Nissan 350z- bit too expensive, gas guzzling and small. but good looking. I would really like to go for the eclipse spyder but I am worried that mitsubishi is not a very popular brand and the car doesn't seem to have any good reviews. My next choice is the altima coupe which is not as stylish as the eclipse but is reliable and has good interiors plus better gas mileage. What is your opinion?

Replying to: salil (Apr 17, 2008 10:27 am) Beyond the looks department Mitsu still offers the best warranty of the bunch. Others that I've known who owned the 06 Eclipse and up have generally had good luck with them. I also think that the lack of advertising dollars Mitsu currently throws into the magazine marketplace might explain some of the dismissive reviews out there. Probably sour grapes on my part to some extent but still... If you decided against the Eclipse or Spyder my next two choices would be the Accord or Altima.

Replying to: elgatoloco (Apr 19, 2008 6:36 am) I test drove the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder today and I found the car to be excellent. The only problem I have is that the car with it's top up has a huge blindspot. I was wondering is there a way to reduce this blindspot? Another question is about the color. I was thinking about the sunset pearlscent which is a bright orange metallic color which is not a color seen in most cars? In most people's opinion would the color be too gaudy/gay or girlish?

Replying to: salil (Apr 19, 2008 10:07 pm) I do not think the orange mettalic is "girlish" at all. Had it been available at my dealer it would have been my first choice. As it was, just purchased (yesterday) a 2007 eclipse SE (new, still on lot) in the Satin Mesai Pearl. Looked green on the web sites, tis actually a darker metallic grey. As for any demographics you may care about - I am 50, and tis my first coupe. JC |
