The new Pilot has 149ft braking distances BEFORE the fade sets in, 0-60 in 9.7 seconds, this is not a great family car VS any other 3 row crossover. It has an old 5-spd auto when nearly everyone else in this class has a 6-spd. I would hate to be in one of these things in LA traffic, slow, and can't stop worth a damn. The price, wow. 16/22mpg with the torque sucking VCM that does nothing clearly, because the other crossovers are getting the same or better. The Triplets, Veracruz, CX-9, Flex, are all better than this thing. Lets not get started on the ugly nose and poorly designed interior, this thing only has one saving grace, the H on the front of it's ugly front end

Wow, I thought they fired whoever styled the Element. Oh well, congrats and mad props to you honda on your second Sport Ugly Vehicle!

Wow, the way the Chinese car market is heating up I'd thought I would never see the end of Chinese car design and all its....er....differentness. And here it stands, the new Pilot. The efforts Honda must have went through to give the appearance that the chrome grille was a tacked on after thought must have taken their designers minutes even miliseconds. Oh those quirky Chinese car designers. Ya gotta love em'!! They should have renamed it Happy Ugly Face Squishy or something inane like that. Honda is definitely leading the pack in the Chinese-designed car market. Buick watch out!! Huh? you say that Honda is not Chinese? It's Japanese??!! So a Japanese car company is designing such hideousness?? I don't get it? Toyota's Japanese and they are able to design beautiful cars like the...um.....Yaris? Oh no wait, the Camary is a real looker..............if your blind........and the Solora, well what can I say that its tailend doesn't say for itself huh?

I realize speed isn't everything, but why do they come down on the flex for being slow at 9 seconde to 60 when this is even slower.

Ok so yeah at first I turned my nose up at this one too. My wife was quitting an 05 Oddy that handled poorly at best in the snow. So we were definitely going 7 or 8 passenger SUV. The big guys were too big (Sequoia and Tahoe) and we drove a lot of the crossovers. For all you Enclave lovers - my light footed slow driving wife felt the Enclave didn't have enough power. So we walk into Honda to politely give the Pilot a try before dismissing it. We loved it. The Navigation System is great! The sound is better than half of your home theaters! Here was a crossover size car with a third row that we could keep up and still have a trunk. I love the hatch access to the trunk for placing simple things without opening the whole tailgate. The seats really are that comfortable. Our car is a Touring and the dual driver memory so nice. All of the toys that you read about are as good as advertised. My only comment is if you need to accelerate you can .... but you need to go to high RPM. Its her car she never needs to worry about it. I drive it on family drives and its not a big deal. The power and pickup is why you pay the premium for the MDX. But if you want to save the $$ you buy the Pilot and like us very quickly you love it! Replying to: hwccsuburbs (Jun 29, 2008 6:00 am) No... if you need power to move your family out of harms way, or up a hill, you look elsewhere, like a CX-9 or Flex. 9.0 is slow but 9.7 is bordering on disgustingly slow.. no way should a crossover be THAT slow and get THAT low of a MPG.
