Anti theft ignition key?

I just bought a '05 Neon today and only one ignition key came with it. On the way home i decided to get some duplicates made at the local hardware store. They started the engine but it shut down after a couple seconds. My question, how big of a hassle is it to get duplicate anti theft keys and much do they cost? Also, no key ID #'s came with the car.

Check with you local professional locksmith. I had similar problem, cost me $42.00 for a second transponder key. Then you can find instructions on the www about programming a third key. Ebay has them, you just have too have them cut for your vehicle and then program it yourself.
