This is the offer I get from the dealer in LA:

EX35 Journey 2WD
39 month lease
$600 drive out
$400/month + tax

It sounds attractive when I was at the dealership but is it?

Hi wongtomm. In my opinion, the best way to get a good deal on a leased vehicle is to negotiate the selling price of the truck that you want first, and then have the dealer calculate your monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor. The selling prices of leased vehicles are negotiable, just as if you were paying cash for or financing them. Without knowing that this EX's selling price is, you don't know how much of a discount you are being given on it. Find out what this number is. If it's not close to dealer invoice, do some additional negotiating with this dealer, or shop around with a few others.

Once you have arrived at a selling price that you are happy with, have the dealer that quoted you it calculate your EX's monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor. Infiniti Financial Services' current buy rate for a 39 month lease of an '08 EX35 2WD (non-Journey) is .00056.

I agree with finalizing the real purchase price and basing lease numbers from that price. I just picked up the following-
EX35 Journey AWD
Nav
Premium
Lux
Roof rack and cross bars
Sticker price $44k
24 month lease is $395
Cap reduction pymt upfront was $1,500.
Total upfront including cap reduction and all taxes (NY), DMV, etc was $3,500.

kjkii-
Looks like you got a great deal. What was the sale price to get that low a payment. I looked at an EX over the weekend, but I'm not putting the $5k down to have low payments. I'd appreciate it, as well as probably a lot of others, if you can divulge some more info.
Thanks

with the lease rates so low, i think it's worth it to roll the upfront fees in to the lease term. there's really no point in paying $2k/$3k upfront when you can just roll it into the lease at a rate of 1.8%.

here's the deal that we got at the end of last month:

AWD Journey
Premium
Tech
Navi
Luxe Style
Wood
Roof Rails & Cross Rails
Splash
Cargo Protector

msrp - $46,275
negotiated price - $41,095 (about $1k below invoice)
fees (acquisition, doc, registration) - approx $1k

39 month lease / 12k miles
53% residual
.00076 money factor
$490/mo (including sales tax)
no money upfront (except first month rent)

i had a lease trade-in that basically offset the fees (i had some equity in it)

First time poster here on the forum. Here's the lease I just signed

AWD Journey, Premium, NAV, Roof Rails and Crossbars, Cargo Protector, Splash Guards
39 mo/15k
redisual = 52%
money factor = .00082
MSRP - 42,025
Sale Price - 35,685 (about 3k below invoice)
Tax = 1150
Fees = 1000
$2500 out of pocket includes 1st month lease
$395 / month

I thought it was a great deal, but seeing what everyone else on the board is getting, I guess it's pretty standard.

in my view, the dealer is about $2-$3k too high on your negotiated lease price. based on what other people are getting for similarly equipped cars, your base cap should be no higher than $37k. assuming your MF is within the range of what other folks have gotten (.00056 for 24mos/.00076 for 39mos), then knocking off that extra $2k-$3k should get you under $500/mo.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to go back and suggest that he need to do a little better. He told me that he is making a "ham sandwich" on the deal. The other thing is that this car is on their lot. It has Options I don't really want. I don't need the Wood trim and I think the splash guards are pretty well overpriiced for 4 small pieces of plastic! I'd rather have the Luxe pakage simply for the Xenon headlights. I was told that this is not a common option found...these lights are part of a more expensive (ie more commonly found) package. I also told him I needed to tow (less that 3500 lbs). But I saw nothing on the quote that lists anything about towing.

I'll assume that the salesman does not really want to locate a vehicle that matches what I want. Probably has to do with hold back etc. But I really don;t want to be paying for options I don't care for...

Does anyone know how thes cars are selling and if there are likely to be any programs in July? I had to stop by the Acura dealer to talk about my MDX. They wanted to me to lease another--got amazingly aggressive. Most of the dealers I have talked to (BMW, Toyota, Honda, Lexus)have confided that the SUV sales have dropped down to almost nothing. That is why I am wondering how the EX sales are doing....
