New 2.0t by venus537

It’s stated that the base 2009 Volkswagen CC models will get the 2.0t engine rated at 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. But the base 2009 Audi A4 will get the “new” 2.0t engine with 211 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Is the “new” 2.0t going to be exclusive to Audi models or will the Volkswagen CC get this new engine too?

Karen, is there anyway one of the editors can answer this? Thanks.

A New Trend? by davewoodall

In profile, this car has a disturbing similarity to Honda's new Accord. Starting from the rear of both cars and moving forward, all looks good (especially the VW with its much more exciting roofline) until you get to the A-pillar; from that point forward it seems to be the work of an entirely different designer. It's like the head of a Basset Hound was transplanted onto the body of a Greyhound; completely without a sense of balance and proportion. Coming as they are from two different manufacturers on two different continents, I sincerely hope this isn't a preview of the "Next Thing" in the mid-priced coupe and sedan market. If so, I'll be hanging onto my current A6 and hoping this is just a passing fad.

This is more akin to an avalon than a mercedes. About time VW figured out that making a car that competes with another car in the same stable is stupid. This car gives an option for more space than a passat without stepping on an A6 toes unduly. VW makes very nice cars, If they could make cars that were reliable consistently they would give the Japanese something to worry about. However VW's reliability continues to be like a yoyo with most vehicles being pretty bad.

I'm sorry but it looks like a German version of a Japanese car.

It's not that visually arresting... sorry. Bland truck-like generic horizontal bar grille. regular VW taillights just stretched out a little. swoopy roof just like any other swoopy roof Lexus Shmexus.

The two-tone ribbed seats are very nice though.

Cars like these just make me yearn for cars like the 1975 Pontiac Grand Am I saw the other day. At least they were something to look at.

This car really doesn't do anything special, style wise.

I think VW will have hit on it's hands with this car. It certainly makes the current Passat look dowdy, and the Audi A6 even worse. Love the interior, especially the ribbed seats. If VW keeps the big tasteful wheels and keeps the car low and purposeful in it's stance, I think it will do very well here. No sneaking in the "ready for the flood" springs for the NA market as so may European manufacturers do after showing off pictures of the European models! I've seen so many of them that look like a damn Jeep by the time they get to our lots.

There will be a revised 2.0T engine. Won't have as much torque though.

Other impressive options include a lane-departure countersteering program and cruise control that controls the gap between cars, but you'll definitely want to see the Park Assist, which automatically guides the CC into a parking space at the touch of a button.

Are these options availible? Being a techno geek I was really looking forward to see how they operated.
