I was completely prepared to be underwhelmed by the CC. Then I saw it and sat in it at the Atlanta Auto Show. The styling looks better in the metal than in the pictures, by far. They've done an excellent job of making a fairly large car seem taut and stylish.

But what really makes this car is the upscale character of the interior, especially in the two-tone black/cornsilk combo. The two-tone color scheme is available even in the leatherette of the base "Sport" model, and provides a nice link to the $50k Audi A5 and A6 interiors. Nothing else at the $30k price point comes close, except the Malibu LTZ, and the Malibu, while very attractive and tasteful, does not have the same distinctive exterior design.

I haven't bought one yet, though. Still hoping they'll bring the TDI version over here.

Only if they offered a 5 seat, this car would be perfect for me. I love the whole concept. Plus, the sunroof does not open all the way.

I would argue that the 4 seat deal is part of the appeal and 4-door coupe concept. While I agree it may make it unappealing to some, it does add to the intrigue. Doesn't hurt that the 5 seat Passat is essentially the same car.

Yes, good point. I like the regular passat, but the interior leaves you wanting more. Its a bit harsh and plastic like. The standard seats are a bit odd looking, almost too big.

Its too bad, because the interior in the CC is much better, the Jetta interior is much better than the regular passat. I would have gotten the passat, its that interior that kept me away.

It doesn't look like the regular passat's are selling real fast anyway. The one test drove sat on the lot for a year later. Along with a few others.

Yeah, and adding to problems for the Passat vs CC is that the base 2.0T CC is a tiny bit cheaper I believe, not the case for higher models. I know which I would buy....

Part of the issue with both models, is that they are too expensive. Not when the jetta offers a good bang. I find the CC to be too much anyway, especially for only a 4 seater. The moonroof doesn't open all the way up. They need to offer better deals in general though for VW leases now. Last 08 Spring, they offered AMAZING deals. I could have gotten a Komfort passat, a bit cheaper than the jetta SE. I didn't do it.

I must say I found it to be much better than expected. The acceleration was quick and smooth despite the a/c blasting and three persons (one, portly) in the car. The interior was well designed with excellent fit and finish in the Audi/VW tradition. For the price (about $38K) loaded, it was not unreasonable and is worth a consideration, especially since it is sharper than the A4 in appearance and costs less.
