Perhaps a better deal would be the cheaper two liter A4 with the ECU reflashed and a manual transmission.

...oh, wait... no manaul for this year. And no plans for an Avant with a manaul, period.

Seems if ya want a wagon with a stick you end up in ...a BMW. How the H did that happen?

my audi dealer here in northern virginia says that the audi of america rep. for this region told him that there would be a manual in the a4 avant in 2010. has anyone else heard this?

as for crash testing, i'm not sure that audi has to do another nhtsa test of an a4 or a4 avant just because of the manual trans. and for parts, audi will have to stock the same parts for a manual a4 avant as they will for the a4 sedan manual and the sedan manual is apparently coming to the u.s. in a few months. and besides, audi would be offering the manual in part to market a sporty image, not to sell 20,000 avants in the u.s. with a manual. part of bmw's sporty aura is built by offering all their 3 and 5 series cars with a manual even though most bmw are driven by people who wouldn't even know how to shift a manual trans. also, for those interested in a 4wd/awd wagon with good fuel economy like the 2.0t a4 avant, i believe that saab is going to have an all wheel drive 9-3 wagon with a manual in 2009.

Click-Click... at the pump. by ebtm

I just want to mention that there must have been no click-click at the pump... there must have been only one click.

Why? because Audi somehow thinks that using about 20 pages from the manual, plus a notice on the gas cap that summarizes in: tight the gas cap and allow just one click and one click only, otherwise, the engine light will turn on for 5 days. Yes. That was my first experience with the Audi.

Mea culpa, I didn't read the manual as to how to fill up the gas in an Audi. I have filled gas in a Jaguar, a Cadillac, a U-Haul truck and many other cars without reading the manual first... somehow Audi believes that this exercise should be different from other manufacturers.

I learned from my father that I should tight the gas cap and allow a few clicks to be very sure that it was tight. I follow this tradition in all my cars... until I got the Audi. I booked a service appointment and the service representative asked for how long I had the car... "about a week" I responded. "Did you put gas on your car?" -yes... "ah, you probably clicked the gas cap more than once. Wait for a few days and if the light is still on, bring the car to the dealership".

Indeed, a few days later, the light turned off.

So there you go... apparently Audi connoisseurs would know that one click and one click only, is the rule.

Me, I think that instead of the many warnings for not clicking more than once, they should relax the sensor that senses "one click only".

If you have an Audi, believe me that you can save an appointment by clicking only ONCE the gas cap.

Enjoy it!
