I found a aveo for 10500 I get 1000 cash back for having a 99 chevy. But i have to pay 1700 to have ac installed in the car. How good is the dealer installed ac?
also after reading all the bad messages about the aveo here makes me scared to buy the car.

All I can say is that I had on 05 Hatchback LT model, and the body started self-destructing at around 28-30 K miles. No mechanical issues other that the suspension squeeked and moaned...also, excessive front tire wear was an issue.
Dealers in SC offer the base 5-door for $9995.00 + tag and tax.

looks like i will need to put a Aluminum Thermostat Housing on aveo and a fail safe Thermostat in the aveo. if i buy one. those seem to cause most of the problems with aveo on here.
Aluminum Thermostat houseing:

fail-safe thermostat

They are pretty descent cars especially for the money. I don't have one but have driven them and they are nice. I have read the forum for almost 2-years now and don't recall a lot of thermostat problems, just a few. The tire issue is generally related to short lasting tires that come with the car but as mentioned the front tire wear was by a driver who mainly drives in the city for business and makes a lot of tight turns which will bother any cars front tires.
Remember whether it's an Aveo or Yaris people come to these boards to post complaints or find out information on how to solve problems. Most people don't come here to praise a vehicle or express how much they like it. The Aveo does have a 5-year, 100,000 mile transferrable warranty to back it.

Well stated...
In my case, I think I would have probably been much more satisfied if the dealer had treated me decently, instead of discounting my issues because it was an inexpensive automobile. This appears to be a common thread in many complaints regarding Aveos. In fact, the base models get very high praise from many in these forums.
My suggestion...make sure the dealer treats Aveo owners as well as owners of other models, or find another dealer.

It seems like a good deal. I can get one for about 11,000 with ac. But the new aveo is coming out with a better motor soon. I Dont know if i should buy 2008 aveo or wait for the 2009 aveo.
when will the 2009 aveo come out? I hope they have it motorweek soon.

I believe later in the summer. I am not aware of a different engine but it would be a nice upgrade. You may want to do some searching on google or elsewhere to see if the info. is out there.
The front end styling does look sportier on the 2009 version which will arguably make it the best looking sub-compact on the market thus far. Pontiac may get a version of it like they do in Canada.

The 2009 Aveos/Wave5 will be on sale July in Canada and they feature a new ecotec vvti motor.

That's what I hear. The engine will be called an Ecotec now. I wonder if it is an entirely new engine or just changed to the variable valve timing (VVT) as they report. The Ecotecs have a great reputation and I would hate for that to change with this engine so it better meet that expectation. Supposedly it will get 8% better mpg.

GMDAT already tweaked the engine for 2006 Aveo and promised a slight increase in HP and fuel economy. As far as I know the ecotec that will be in the 2009 Aveo will be the same engine with even more tweaks. An all new Aveo should appear around 2011 or 2012 model year with a new platform by GMDAT which will also be used for the 2011 Opel Corsa.
