Replying to: poncho167 (Apr 06, 2008 4:49 am) Well stated...   In my case, I think I would have probably been much more satisfied if the dealer had treated me decently, instead of discounting my issues because it was an inexpensive automobile. This appears to be a common thread in many complaints regarding Aveos. In fact, the base models get very high praise from many in these forums.   My suggestion...make sure the dealer treats Aveo owners as well as owners of other models, or find another dealer.

I Dont know if i should buy 2008 aveo or wait for the 2009 aveo.   when will the 2009 aveo come out? I hope they have it motorweek soon. . Replying to: tootal2 (Apr 06, 2008 7:25 am) I believe later in the summer. I am not aware of a different engine but it would be a nice upgrade. You may want to do some searching on google or elsewhere to see if the info. is out there.   The front end styling does look sportier on the 2009 version which will arguably make it the best looking sub-compact on the market thus far. Pontiac may get a version of it like they do in Canada. I wonder if it is an entirely new engine or just changed to the variable valve timing (VVT) as they report. The Ecotecs have a great reputation and I would hate for that to change with this engine so it better meet that expectation. Supposedly it will get 8% better mpg. Replying to: poncho167 (May 17, 2008 4:30 am) GMDAT already tweaked the engine for 2006 Aveo and promised a slight increase in HP and fuel economy. As far as I know the ecotec that will be in the 2009 Aveo will be the same engine with even more tweaks. An all new Aveo should appear around 2011 or 2012 model year with a new platform by GMDAT which will also be used for the 2011 Opel Corsa. Replying to: richard1haines (May 26, 2008 3:32 pm) If its the same engine as current with just a few minor changes, it shouldn't be called an Ecotec. It's current and previous name is E-Tec which is not an Ecotec. GM used to have Tech 4, Quad 4, and many other names of small engines. Ecotecs are new engines produced in the last decade. Replying to: poncho167 (May 29, 2008 5:51 pm) Somewhere I think I remember reading that the Ecotec was an aluminum block engine. As far as I know, the Aveo uses an iron block engine...but, I could be mistaken...
