I was at a KIA dealer the other day looking at a Spectra5 and was disappointed to see a plastic timing cover which means it has a timing belt which means it is the older cast iron engine (correct me if I'm wrong here). I'm not in need of a car right now, but I like to play the "what would I buy if something seriously bad happened to my car today" game. My current ride is a Pontiac Vibe and the Spectra5 seems very similar. I think the Optima may already have the new 2.4 (all aluminum with timing chain) engine. Replying to: jcj8008 (Apr 13, 2008 8:02 pm) But I clearly saw a plastic timing belt cover, and the world engines all have timing chains which use cast aluminum covers (I was a mechanic for 15 years,so I know what I'm talking about here)
