I have no way of getting ahold of most of the people who were in the group discussing our horrible paint jobs. Myself and another owner and banding together to get something done about our chipping, peeling, and/or flaking paint. Please please please email me with your year make/model color dealership and any reps you have dealt with and any relevant dates, what you were told about your paint, anything. We are gathering as much as we can to get this taken care of. Please help us out so we can force Kia to fix their mistakes. princessmelissa yahoo. com

I was so disappointed with the paint job on my 2005 Spectra5. Before I got home from the showrrom, I had 3 chips and never even heard anything hit the car.
It just got worse as time went on. I am continually buffing out superficial scratches that are no more that shadows but very unattractive.
I now see that it is not just KIA. Suzuki, and many other imports have the same problem.
Is it just a case of lousey products in the marketplace?

2005 Kia Spectra 5 Peeling Paint by jenae

I have a 2005 Spectra 5. It's in immaculate condition, except for some small circles of fading paint on the upper rear spoiler (near the antenna). I just noticed them for the first time about 2 weeks ago and each time I look at it there's more!!! I think there's about 10 small ones now. I'm so disappointed. I took great care of my car, this is my first car I bought brand new and now it's starting to look bad because of crappy paint! I called Kia this morning and they said that it's not covered under warranty since the warranty only covers paint for 36 months or 36,000 miles. Am I crazy to think that paint on a 4 year old car should still look good? I would expect that a car that is waxed and parked in a carport regularly shouldn't have any paint issues for 10 years!
Any suggestions? From my seach about this it sounds like this is a very common problem. Has anyone had luck with Kia actually covering the paint as defective?
