I just purchased a used Sedona with 18K. The dealer told me that Kia does not transfer its warrenty past the original owner. Is this true? If Kia does transfer warrenties, how can I get a copy of it?

This is from the Kia Motors 2007 Warranty Manual on their website; the 2008 book reads the same. We own a 2002 and I do not believe the basic terms of the warranty have changed significantly. In short, the dealer appears wrong, except that as the subsequent owner you only get 5/60 on the power train, not 10/100.

1. The Warranty Period
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty is divided into
various warranty periods. For the purpose of all
warranties contained in this Manual(other than
warranties on replacement parts or accessories
installed after the Kia Vehicle was placed into use),
the warranty period begins on the Date of First
Service. “Date of First Service” means the first date
the Kia Vehicle is delivered to the first retail
purchaser, is leased or is placed into service as a
company vehicle use (e.g., as a demonstrator, rental
or fleet vehicle), whichever is earliest. Moreover,
whenever this manual refers to a warranty period of
months/miles, it means whichever comes first. Any
remaining portion of any warranty, except the 120
month/100,000 mile Power Train (Original Owner)
warranty, is fully transferable to subsequent owners.

The 5/60 is bumper to bumper.

alfiedw is correct. The original basic warranty is 5 years/60K miles and the power-train is 10 years/100K miles for the original owner only. The power-train warranty reverts to 5 years/60K miles from the original purchase date for any subsequent owner. It's still a great warranty; some manufacturer's don't allow the transfer of the original warranty at all.

I just bought a 2007 Buick LaCross CX with 15800 miles, is the balance of the factory warranty automatically transfer. Is there any documentation to provide the dealer, to make it so.
