Flex=Yay, no minivan by reliaman

I think the styling is pretty fresh, if just a little to simple. The Flex is basically a minivan alternative (it's comparable to minivans in terms of size and price), and when you think of it that way, it has a great chance to succeed. The only questions I have are (1) is it's fuel efficiency going to compare favorably to Toyota and Honda minivans (probably not) and (2) will its style actually be functional for people with infants?

The high waistline style is just stupid

No it's not, I can't get enough of the 4-door coupe looks on many of the modern day sports sedans.

what a rip off by robi615

I think the body styling is a complete rip off of the scion xB. Here Ford offers the same style of car, once seen as too boxy and ugly to ever be popular, only with seating capacity up to 7. Who honestly uses all 7 seats in a car? With gas prices climbing as fast as they are, when we we see a car that gets 30+ mpg come out of Detroit instead of another full-size SUV/or SUV crossover.

People who do well when the economy does (business people, more or less) are the ones who buy luxury suvs in bulk. Those made a lot of companies a lot of money. Now that things have settled down, those people still want a stylish car. Why not give them an alternative to their escalade that costs less and uses less gas, but has much the same effect on people? The Scion Xb is a rip off of a toaster. I am sure it is designed to get a five star safety rating. If you want a 30 mpg SUV you have to look to Detroit and the CD2 hybrids. 34 city 30 hwy. If you want a 30 mpg, look at the Focus which gets the same mpg as the corolla. A Honda fit is still probably the best space/mpg bargain.

It looks like my Scion xB. Do we really need another square boxy car driving around. On wait... here comes the Nissan Cube. Atleast they have a lot of room on the inside.

I don 't believe Escalade owners and luxury SUV owners are going to switch to a Flex. Luxury buyers do not buy Ford's, and the Flex is not an alternative to truck derived SUV's like the Escalade. What about status? No one is impressed by seeing a Flex at the golf course. The current economic downturn affects middle and lower classes to a greater extent. People who can afford 70K SUV's make over 100K annually and are not as affected by gas prices or the mortgage melt down.

Seems to me that people with disposable income will always buy an interesting product, some are bound to come across the affordable, relatively efficient Flex.
