What is this discussion about? Acura TSX, Sedan

First Drive: 2009 Acura TSX - First Impressions: Acura builds a better TSX for 2009, but it forgets to add a couple must-have ingredients (like chic styling, competitive power and raw desirability) to entice the young, sophisticated buyers it seeks. (more)

Full Test: 2009 Acura TSX - Bottom Line: A more relaxed and sophisticated commuter device than the original TSX, but it no longer makes the cut as a driver's car. (more)

Our family has leased 2 VW's now. I have not had any problems. I know it used to be their reputation, but VW is highly rated. I know others have stated that they love their VW's and have lasted years with minimal issues. Too each their own right? I don't have room to speak as I would never buy a GM car. I don't trust their reliability...lol.

The TSX is still an awesome car. People stick with what they know.

VW highly rated? According to Consumer Reports, they are ranked 25 out of 34 manufactures. They did move up 5 spots to get to 25, so that is good new for VW. I am pleasantly surprised to hear your leased VW's have fared well. I wonder if that would change if you owned them for a longer period of time as opposed to a shorter term lease. Just talking outloud here
Acura is ranked 2, behind Scion. fyi

If I was leasing, or if I planned to get a new car in, say, 5 years, I wouldn't have hesitated over the VW. But I like to keep my cars for 10 years. I've owned VWs and Audis before, as have other family members, and each one has, over the long term, developed electrical problems.

I have heard that the new Jetta platform is better, so I'll be happy to find out in a few years that I'm being unfair. Certainly many people have owned VWs and had no problems. But at some point you have to trust your own experience.

I have considered opting for the TSX, since dealers are holding their grip on Accords more firmly than Acura.

I have to admit.. I have an 08 Pontiac G6, and parts already are needing to be replaced. First off, probably stated it before, it wasn't my choice to get the GM car, (long story). But, I am so done with it. I have tried to like it, but with a catalytic converter going out, I cannot roll down my windows for the 2nd time, perhaps the fuse it out again? I am done!! I work too hard for my money to worry about silly things like this.

I am now moving ahead to have the lease transferred using a transfer site.

I am currently thinking about getting the TSX, Accord, (VW, Wolfsburg, TDI)
Its more annoying than anything else. I was very mad last night to have this happen again, when I just got my car back.

TDIs are very popular now, and I can't blame anyone for buying one -- it's a great car. However, because they're very popular, dealers command a premium for them. When all was said and done, to get the TDI I wanted was only $3k less than the Acura TSX, a car with a lot more refinement and luxury (albeit worse gas mileage!). Given my beliefs about VW's reliability, I viewed my choice as "Pay $3k more to get Honda reliability instead of VW reliability, in a car that's about the same level of fun." At least, that was my logic.

Stepping back from pure Honda vs. VW guesswork, the Acura also comes with a 4 year/50,000 mile manufacturer warrantee instead of a 3 year/36,000 one.

But like I said, I'd never mock anyone for buying a TDI. It's a great car.

I can understand where you are coming from. I am a huge Honda fan. I had one, an 06 Accord 4cyl. I lease my cars, nothing is forever for me.

I do not lease cars as I average 30,000+ miles a year but I do buy them more often than others.

Yes, I am already going to be about 7,000 or so miles over my projected lease miles from where I should be as on now. I am not too worried... I do know that I will trade before that time. How much it'll hurt, I am not sure. I know I won't trade for another GM though.

tsx and bike rack by joey660

I have a 2009 TSX. Previously leased a 2005TSX. Also own a 2004 TL. I recently put a Rhode Gear bike rack on the trunk to transport two bikes(road bike and a hybrid). The two foam "feet" on the bottom of the rack that rest against the trunk, under the license plate left two dents in that spot on the trunk. I'm not a happy camper! I used the same rack on the 2005 TSX and my TL and did not and do not have a problem. I compared the metal( the old bang the knuckel against the metal test) to the the TL and it seems to me the TSX trunk is flimsey and made out of tin!
The car is now at the dealer where "The Dent Doctor" is going to see if it can be repaired. The "Doc" was a freebie when I got the car. Waiting to see what happens. Anyone else have this problem?
