Hi! I have found places where I can get blank keys made for my Aveo, but I will still need them to be programmed. Is there a way to do this without going to the dealer? I have keyless entry, and alarm, and an immobilizer.

Thanks!

From what I understand having read other forums there is, but unfortunately I don't have the information. Maybe try searching google or somewhere if no one can help.

Thanks for answering. I know that on some cars, you can do it pretty easily. But, it's very difficult to get any technical or mechanical info on this car unless you buy the shop manual, which is very expensive.

I am not to sure how much the Aveo key is compared to other cars but should be able to find a seller on google search.

Nope, no way around it. There are, of course two types of keys, Alarm controllers and standard transponder keys. Both have transponders, and requore programming. The dealer has to program them. If you have the alarm controller key for the LT model, you are looking at $148 for the key, then $45 for programming it.
I have read in other forums that someone has programmed it his/herself, however, I don't trust it. Best to do the right thing, even though it may suck, to go out of pocket the $200 for the key.

hey there to program a new key in you aveo you need to have the new key cut so hat it can turn the ignition
next put a key that is programmed to the car in the ignition
turn to run but do not start
wait about two seconds and turn off and take it out
put your new key in and start the car it should now be programmed
make sure you do all of this quickly as timing is important if you are too slow it will go out of programming mode
