| I need to buy a set of winter rims for my 09 Maxima. How critical is the +50mm offset? Can I safely use rims with less than +50mm? | |

I still can't figure out what is leather and what is not on the Maxima seats, certainly by the overpowering smell of glue and plastic, not much is leather at all. Not very premium like in a car this price. By contrast, opening the cabin door on an Acura TL definitely gives off the scent of leather. The auto show in this area supports your claim that there is a bigger buzz for the TL, the cars were impossible to sit in compared to the Maxima. Around the DC area you can see TLs allover the place, Maximas are a rare sighting. 2- The similarity of the trunk design to the Altima is my other turn-off. Although the tail lights are certainly different than the Altima, the trunk like just can't quite separate itself from it. I would add the fact that the car is built in America, at a significant cost advantage to the big 3, and priced as a import. $39,000.00 is quite a bit for a fully loaded vehicle of its type built right here in the USA. Nissan has no need to apply for a bail out. Nissan laughs all the way to the bank when someone signs up for one of these cars at such prices. American cost + Sale at import price = Easy profit. But I am sure everyone who reads this blog already knows that.

Just topped 21,100 enjoyable, trouble-free miles here. As I'm still 4 months away from hitting my 1-year mark with this car, that's a lot of time in the seat over the past 8 months. I've done all of my scheduled maintenance (more oil changes than anyone should do in a year), and my car has been 100% trouble-free. Even my tires have maintained a surprising amount of tread! These tires tend to wear relatively quickly, but mine have plenty of life left in them right now. I do enjoy everything that my car is, but my one regret is regarding what my car is not. Specifically, I purchased the SV w/ tech package. At the time, it was my only option, but I wish I had held out for the premium package, as the features that I'm missing, but that are included in that package, would really make this car hard to beat. Being in AZ, for example, I'd love to have the air-conditioned seats. Other than regretting not picking up that specific package, I've not experienced any buyer's remorse regarding this car. It's proving to be everything I had expected it to be when I purchased it. |

Add to that the fact that they can offer 7K off and stay in business, and you can tell how extremely exaggerated the MSRP is. In talking to Nissan Consumer Affairs today, I found out that dealers are charging an up-front fee of up to $150.00 for service that would be done under warranty. Imagine my surprise when this happened to my son, I called expecting to get a sense of outrage from Nissan Consumer Affairs but instead I was told that dealers are independently owned and can do that. It is like a deposit to make sure the car is really broken, and if so for a warranted part, they process a refund. I have never heard of paying up front for warranty because of the possibility that the defect is not a warranty defect. Usually my service advisor calls me to let me know when this happens and I choose to pay or leave as is, not so at Bill Seidle Nissan in Miami Florida. Buyers BEWARE!! |

Replying to: tmikeb (Apr 25, 2009 6:33 pm) For comparisons sake, I occasionally look at a few dealers in the southeast and mid-atlantic for online pricing. dobbsdirect.com, teamdirect.com, Brown's Sterling Nissan, fitzmall.com, nissanofforestcity.com, antwerpennissan.com, etc. I don't think I have seen anything as low as 26.8 with the options you want. Anyone else know any dealers that post e-prices online? (with an emphasis on the southeast)

Replying to: tmikeb (Apr 25, 2009 6:33 pm) I take it this is to be a company vehicle, am I right? if so, does the company insist on buying the vehicle? leasing can get you the car for 39 months at about 500 a month or less. That gets you the car you want for monthly payments totaling 20,000 or so plus taxes. Just a suggestion but of course it depends on what your company accepts. Even if it is a personal vehicle, the option is still out there. It is very nice to walk away after 39 months and owe nothing, not care about resale value, and just jump into a new vehicle. If that is acceptable to you and your company, may want to consider it, good luck.
