I agree there is no way Toyota is going to sell 500K in a year even if you were calculating global sales. CSX or Mike or whoever please have the SEC investigate.

I dont think we need to be factual about these prices... think of internet bubble in 2000. Those internet companies were not making a dime, yet thier stock prices were hundreds or thousands of dollars. I believe the price of these cars will eventually come down, just need the get hype out of market. This takes time since the ratio of the more experienced players and newbies need to become higher. (therefore a newbie buying one stock does not inflate the price as much as before)
But I agreed $100 cap and $1000 cap on the cars are somehow misleading.

And remember, new players entering the market each day are also helping to inflate the prices since they are transacting for the first time and often buying several stocks in one fell swoop.

Actually, I'd say the big kahunas are moderating the prices more than anything. The newbies are the fluctuating ones. I can't speak for all the pros, but I'm shorting far more than I am buying. Quite frankly, I'm shocked that there are still enough people out there buying. Since prices are staying the same, it's safe to say over half of the players are buyers (since the richest players are most assuredly shorting). For instance, I have over $3mil shorted, which means there are 3 newbies buying to offset my shorts.

I bet dr whatever has multiple accounts. He probably signed up like 50 accounts and used them get the market where "they"[he] want[s] it to be. There isn't anything to prevent people from getting multiple accounts. Damn, people want the Wii that bad???? The extent that they would go through just to win a over hyped machine. I'm shorting more than I am buying. Probably, the newbies that are frigging buying buying......

remember you can not just short and wait six month for the stock to retire. I am currently short most of my wealth but i constantly cover my short when the price goes low enough. Of course I short them again when the price is up. Just find the equilibrium price the market is willing pay. However, I am seeing that equilibrium price is going down lower and lower as we see more players shorting rather than buying.
Doctorlove probably does not have multiple accounts. He just knows how to trade.. like trading multiple times every seconds!..

I'm not sure if this is what he's doing, but I could certainly see someone setting up a bot to trade. Anyone with enough experience with html and, more importantly, Java could do that no problem.

I agree estreka, an automated bot/script could do this very easily, which is why daily transaction limits are necessary (perhaps even as few a 1 or 2 trades per stock per day). I don't use that any bots or scripts as honestly I don't have the capability to write such things, but there are plenty of people out there that do. If I've been able to find a way to make $30 million in a week, I guarantee you there are people out there who would figure out way sneakier things if they find out a Wii is on the line.

This game is getting lamer and lamer, one can probably change all the model names with letters from A to Z and wouldn't change how the game works a bit.
In my opinion, so far the purpose of this game, which is to predict the first 6-month sales figures, has been totally overlooked.
Yup, this is a beta all right...
