Is the $3000 rebate really going to end on March 31? Hyundai likes to continue their rebate period. What do you all think.

Hey asdf9, Heres what I think, the 08 rebates are probably gonna be around till the inventory is gone. But check this out ,the 09 Sonata with the same engine size is up to allmost 250 horse power and I think better gas milage then the 08s.With this being said ( oh by the way its the 3.3 liter engine) this allmost makes it a bit tougher to sell the 08s without some sort of generous incentive.Wouldnt be surprised if you see zero percent financing with the three grand rebates for the 08s.Now lets throw something else into the mix,the fear of the R word(recession) The auto makers dont want cars backing up on the lots without any revenue, how ever so small,so stay tuned and see what happens, and if you do purchase an 08 let us know what kind of deal yha got ,Shalome vince 17

Agreed. I've got 138K miles on my current car and while I keep up with the forums & remain interested in cars in general I've little desire to get a new car. I've been payment-free since '01 and I like it.

I hear yha loud and clear but in my case my 94 corrolla with 167000 miles has got some periodic funky tunes and is just starting to get tired which keeps me in the new car market. The forums are quite informative and fun to read so I too keep up with them.

I wonder how this is going to impact the duration, nature and/or the amount of future Sonata incentives. According to a March 6, 2008 article in the on-line edition of Business Week, "Hyundai has about 32,000 Sonata sedans parked in lots around its Montgomery (Ala.) plant with no orders from dealers."

It means rebates/incentives won't be lessening soon, and that we can expect them on the 2009 Sonatas as soon as the 2008s are whittled down on dealer lots. As the article points out, Hyundai has aggressive sales goals in the U.S., and 2008 is a tough year to sell cars.

Vince17, I just purchased an 08 sonata on March 24, 2008. I received a $3,500 rebate from the dealer. According to them, Hyundai had raised it by $500.00 that Day!!
Anyway, I paid $16,320 for my Sonata. This included taxes, titles, and all other fees associated with purchasing a car. This was the walkout the door price. I bought a 5-spped manual (stick-shift) SE model. the interior is accented wth carbon fiber ina dark interior. The exterior color is Dark Cherry Red. If you break it down, the cost of the car alone came out to be $14,700. I gave the dealer $250.00 for a flatbed to bring it from Maryland to NJ 200 miles since it is a manual and I did not want anyone driving it and taking liberties with it on the highway. Inn my opinion, $250.00 well spent. According to the dealer the towing bill was about $650.00, and I beleive it with these gas prices.
They had the 09 Sonata in the showroom. It it a nice interior but I can not justify $3,500 extra, when I can take that money and do my own aftermarket upgrades. Can anyone let me know if they beleive this was a good deal.
