Maybe it's not doable now...but it's worth a call for anyone in the area looking for an '08 Sonata.   If I were in the market, I'd certainly call to inquire. Also, by some law the rebate amount has to be taxed, it was taxed on my transaction and a friend of mine bought a Mazda RX8 with $3,000 rebate and that was taxed as well. For some reason when they write up the order by hand with the sales man, they write it as if the rebate is not taxable but it is.   Also be aware when you talk to the fiance guy whetther yiou are finacing it there or by another bank. The guy at my dealer told me the rebate had increased by $500 but he also tried to increase the price of the vehicle by $500 as well. I We had a serious discussion about it until he finally put the original price of the car I had agreed to. He was the only negative experiance in my whole purchasing experience. Replying to: chico8 (Apr 03, 2008 5:34 am) I should have been clearer. The 6% tax is what I would pay as a CT resident with the car registered in CT. Three years ago I bought a car in FL and paid CT sales tax, not FL. Last year we bought an '07 Sonata from Towne and paid CT (not NJ) sales tax.   The taxability of rebates varies from state to state, but most states in the northeast do tax the rebates.   Towne's internet deals have been straight forward, no BS from anyone including the finance guy; at least that was our experience, and friends, and friends of friends, 8 deals in all. It was well worth the 100 mile trip to pick up the car.   (I did figure the tax on the pre-rebate price in the earlier example.)

Maybe Towne would trade one of their GLS or SE V6s for a Limited I4, if another dealer were willing to do that, but since the I4s seem to be more popular with gas prices as they are, I wouldn't bet on it. But a call can't hurt. That will give them a chance to upsell to a 2009 Limited.
