butter2000,

I'm glad you enjoy the game and I see your doing very well so far from the Leaders page!

Your suggestion is a good one and we'll take it into consideration as we review the game and changes we could make. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and being so attentive to details on the game pages.

Bolding the "estimated share price" so it stands out would help, it can be easy to look at the "last trading price" and think that's what you're buying/selling at only to realize you got screwed when you go back and look at your transaction history.

I'm going to look at that page in general to see how we can better call out various data points. Thanks for your note.

Do I need to wait before selling a stock after buying it to keep the increase in price stable. I have been buying and selling for a few hours now and what I am finding is that after buying a stock the price jumps and I have profit so i sell and when i get to the confirm screen i have lost almost all if not all of the profit. My real concern is that if I cancel the transaction i do not lose my profit so this cannot be casued by others trading on the same stock at the same time. Just really confused as to how I am going to make a profit if when I sell the stock sells below the posted price before i get a chance to confirm.

One challenge here is that if you are one of the only players transacting at the time, then the rise and fall of the stock is directly related to your transactions. This can be frustrating, because then you make almost no money or often lose a little bit, because you don't get in on the action you yourself created.

What I tend to do is wait for other action to hit the stocks in question so that other players' activity moves the stock significantly enough so that when I do a transaction, my action doesn't cancel out my own profit potential.

Does that even make sense?

I hope this helps.

Yes, it does make sense. I've tried to get some action moving and it hasn't worked in my favor, I think because I'm on EST and big movement seems to happen after I've gone to bed between 9 and 12 PST...or 12 am and 3 am for me...80% of my wealth has been generated on IPOs. My IPO profits stem mostly from when there were 3 or 4 IPOs and I could cherry pick and go for the midrange ones, not alot of action at first and enough time for me to sell and then short.

Right now, I'm waiting for my short holdings to cash out on Aug 31...with $4 million or so on tap, I'll feel alot better about playing the market rather than risking my rather meager cash reserves right now...plus it's hard to play with the Ram, Corrolla, and F150 when there's only 400K on tap...

Well, I do understand. It might just be me, but there is quite a bit of delay when conducting a transaction. To make matters worse, one can confirm a trade price, and then have it cut in half (or worse) while the computer is conducting the transaction.

I know nothing about computers, but I am guessing that your server cannot handle the traffic that it has been experiencing.

lincman90 My guess would be it's not the server, and probably not your PC either. but your lack of proximity to the CSX server. (or the GM ads)

leitchman1 If you buy/short some stock you don't need to sell/cover it all at once. spread it out a little bit. It gives you a chance to see how everyone else reacts to the price fluctuation. It also keeps your profit/loss on your portfolio page, whereas when you zero out a stock that number disappears.

p.s. welcome to the game!

EDIT: Mike, does the above advice break any of the terms and conditions? I tried to be as generic as possible. If so please delete.

Thanks for the advice! Actually, I believe you are right-it's GOTTA be the GM ads!
