Replying to: gear7 (Feb 29, 2008 12:24 pm) 6 months seems like an aweful long time to tie up your money.   If your objective is to maximize your portfolio right now I'd agree with that, however I don't think that's the objective for playing this game. I don't know about you but I am here to predict how well will these cars sell in the first 6-month period.

For the first 6 months, we aren't gambling on the sales of the vehicle, we are gambling on what other folks will do with the stock.   So, yeah, the A5 ain't selling anywhere near those numbers, but as long as folks buy the stock because they don't understand what the numbers mean, it doesn't matter.   So, you are correct. I very well may have to wait 6 months to see reality kick in. I'm hoping, however, once true sales numbers are posted on a regular basis, folks will quickly realize how the game works. Wow. There's some serious volatility in this market place. I agree that long term, a short and hold is probably a good strategy as most all of the stocks are vastly overpriced compared to the rules of the game. Replying to: qbrozen (Feb 29, 2008 12:29 pm) Right, if you don't mind just sitting on a short for a good while and don't have much time to put into the game, then that'll work great and has virtually zero risk, but the max someone can gain shorting a stock is +100% and that's if the company goes belly up which wont be the case here. So somewhere in the 90% range is the realistic max. Meanwhile playing the market yesterday and a little today I've managed to add 170% to my net worth (even though most of the stocks are down from when I started) and had a lot of fun doing it.
