I'm not sure if this is market manipulation or not. I know things will be nuts between now and Sunday at 11:59pm PT, when 20 stocks will retire.

We'll keep an eye on transactions, though. I will looks through the logs to see what's up.

Thanks for posting the message.

#234 of 242 3 things by kabrimm

I can't trade right now. I tried to short max on the Forester and it kept reloading the same page (the page that says submit trade). So I tried to sell Dodge Challenger. Same deal. When I hit submit trade, the same page keeps re-appearing. I am on IE 7.0 at home on a cable modem if you need to know that.

Also, I noticed on the Forester, the retire date on the stock page says 9/30, but when you hit the trade button, it says TBD for the retire date.

Lastly, the August numbers say final, but they really aren't final right? I definately didn't loose over 5 million in August. At first I thought it was backwards, but I definately didn't gain 5 million either.

Yes, the August numbers are not final. That's part of the problem (there are a few still, so sorry about the delayed standings).

I just submitted a trade in I.E. 7 from home (with DSL). There could have been connectivity issues unrelated to the game code itself. Please try again and let me know if your problem persists.

I tried a second trade (shorting max on a stock) and it went through. Sometimes the page can be slow, but it should go through.

Even though this shouldn't be an issue in I.E. 7, I do recommend using Firefox for your trading. There just seem to be less bugs with that browser and CSX.

Thanks,

#236 of 242 Flex retire date? by networkguy

Sep 09, 2008 (8:10 am)

I see the Flex is scheduled to retire 1/31/09. Sales data for the first 3 months is already available. That would indicate it's supposed to retire on 11/31/08.

We may change the retirement date on that and other stocks. Sometimes we can't tell when a vehicle is "widely available to the public" until sales figures start coming in.

If we change any retirement dates, I'll always post a note on these Forum pages.

#238 of 242 Net Worth Error? by bg96

Oct 23, 2008 (8:59 pm)

I currently have just over $120M in stocks and another $18K in available cash, but my net worth is showing as only $109M. If anyone can explain the difference in those numbers i'd appreciate it.

Every trade I make seems to enlarge the gap between my net worth and overall stock value. My current stock value is $118,666,552.46, net worth is $106,081,859.68 leaving a difference of $12,584,692.78 that seems to have somehow vanished. It doesn't make much sense for me to continue playing at this point if my net worth is off by this much. I am done for this month and am considering whether or not just to cash out and retire.

I've been playing around with the stocks in my portfolio trying to see if any one stock could explain the issues with my net worth. I just completed a short series of trades. I covered 200 of FSER a stock price of 377.50 which gives me a value of 677.50 per share for a total of $124,500. This trade did not change the price of the stock and did not change my net worth. I then increased my short position in HFIT by 577 which changed the stock price from 40.73 to 40.13. My net worth decreased from $105,026,790.08 to $104,992,590.85, but my overall stocks value increased from $118,136,628.47 to $118,270,174.06 a difference of $133,545.59.

I believe the change in the overall stocks value is correct because the value of my position in HFIT increased from $22,078,134.27 to $22,336,179.86 for a difference of $258,045.59. That number minus the $124,500 that I covered on FSER equals $133,545.59. None of the other stocks in my portfolio changed price during this series of trades. HFIT is the only stock I have found that doesn't register properly with my net worth.

Since HFIT is my largest position, I am wondering if there is an upper limit to the number of shares I can have in a particular stock.
