I have 2005 honda crv with the same trouble.... had me going crazy because it made noise even in idle...BUT i caught it... yes it has to do with the a/c system... turn of the a/c and it stops cycling the noise... it the EXPANSION VALVE cycling and its located under the passenger glove compartment. i stil have not attended this problem but i think it because the line has low pressure or is contaminated.... hope this helps

Yes..that does help. I still haven't been able to recreate for the dealership. So until I can do that...they said they cant do anything. I will mention the Expansion Valve to them next time I'm in. But I'm considering just trading the car in before the A/C does blow up or something else happens. This car squeaks, makes noises does all sorts of stuff. It only has 52k miles on it too. Piece of crap car. I also have that lovely edition where the gear shift is off the upper dash and makes a clicking noise between 1st and second gear. I did take that in after 1 week and they said that's normal. The click is it locking so you don't accidently hit the gears out of drive when you reach for the radio or A/C unit. Hmmm..you'd think they would have redesigned the whole care before production. Idiots.

Hi there,
you are not alone. I have the same problem with my CRV. Took to dealer and couldn't show them the problem on site, it just didn't happened at the dealer.
I drove my CRV to the mountain put the snow chain and it didn't want to go over 10 MPH instead it make a roaring noise. Last week I drove to Palm Spring Aerial Tram and it make a scary loud roaring / crackeling noise. I took to dealer today and couldn't duplicate the problem. I'm sure this is related to the same problem since I just bought the car, but the dealer say it's nothing to do with the drive train. Let's see if we can find more people that has the same problem and hire a lawyer that specialized in suing the Car manufacturing that selling a Lemon car but doesn't want to responsible for their customer complains.
#123 of 156 strange brake squeak

I have a noise that I can't figure out. This only happens once the car is warmed up for about 20 minutes. I will be coming to a slow stop and I hear a squeaky sound when I apply the brakes. It isn't a brake squeak, but more of a rubber squeak. I recently had the rear brakes done and it started soon after that and I only hear it at the rear of the car. It won't happen when going in reverse, only driving forward. And it doesn't happen when I brake hard, only more slow braking coming to a stop sign or light. I have a 2002 CRV with about 135000 miles. I love my CRV but lately it's been having strange sounds. Can anyone help me with this? My mechanic can't figure it out.

Not sure if you have solved this shaking/vibration problem, but I too had the same issue.
I read another post online about having the transmission fluid changed. I did this and also, just because it was time, had the rear differential changed.
The Honda folks had been trying to solve the problem, but the CR-V would not
shake/vibrate for them. I did not tell them why I wanted it changed, I just told
them to do it. They would have probably argued with me that it would not fix the problem. We had checked tires, axles, etc., but found nothing wrong. After they changed transmission fluid (with Honda fluid always), it has not happened again. They were reluctant to do this if it had not been done previously, since they said it can cause more problems, but luckily it had been done previously. I do endorse honda fluids for these cars, except maybe the oil. Everytime I have gone the cheaper route, it has been a mistake. That included brakes for me, but it could have been a mechanic issue on the brakes.
Mine is a 2005 ex CRV. The shakes occurred around 40-50 mph and would last about 5-10 seconds. It was not continuous. Started at 85000 miles, and was not solved until around 100,000 miles. The transmission fluid had been changed about 3000 miles before the shaking started, with what might have been non-Honda fluid. An outside mechanic did the work and I am not sure of their technique or what type of fluid they used. From now on, they get to only change the oil and rotate the tires on my "old reliable crv".

No I haven't.
After taking to some others mechanic most of them say my CRV has transmission problem. Inside it has a pump that defective and causing problem to the Transfer case. It cost me a lot of money to fix since Honda doesn't want to responsible. I did a cheap resolution by disassemble the drive shaft. So my CRV is no longer an AWD. The noise is reduced by 90%.
#126 of 156 Grinding Noise at Start-up
by kanasatka01

I have a 2010 CR-V AWD and it has been making a grinding noise when I turn the key to start-up. It does not happen all the time - but when it does happen, I turn the key back, then immediately turn it again and all is fine, car starts right up. The noise is similar to when you try to start the car when it is already running. Any ideas?

I've got a similar if not same squeak or creak coming from my 2012 CRV with only 1500 miles. It happens at only 10 mph or less. It would sound like a typical suspension squeak or maybe even a brake squeak if it were not for the following test that I performed. It definitely is not a grinding or clunking sound. I would hear the sound as I slowly braked to a stop but then even standing still with my foot on the brake, I would occassionally hear the same sound. Then, in a safe area, I took the car out of gear (shifted into neutral) at 15 mph and braked to a stop. NO SQUEAKS WHILE STOPPING IN NEUTRAL! I am going to the dealer next week armed with this info that points directly to the transmission as the culprit but I'm afraid that I'll hear the usual excuses such as "couldn't reproduce", etc.

This is such a long shot, as I'm replying to a post that's two years old. Yet, your description of what happens with your CRV is Exactly what I'm experiencing with my car now. Same year as yours, fewer miles. Did you ever discover what the noise was? I'm a little nervous to drive the car. I don't expect a reply, but you never know....

Make sure replace rear differential fluid every year.
Check your engine mounting, All 4 of them. Replace if you see the rubber broken. Check the pump inside transmission. Replace if necessary. I did all of those. But you can start with the fluid, engine mounting first since they are cheaper. No need original Honda ( except the fluid ). Autozone has better warranty & cheaper.
