I was told that maybe I could ask my question here & host would copy it to the other appropriate forums? I'm in the process of looking to replace my '97 2 door GrandAm with almost 125,000 miles on it. I've been looking seriously at the Saturn Aura, Saturn VUE and the Chevrolet Malibu. Anyone have any pros and/or cons of each of these? We also have a 2003 TrailBlazer that I LOVE. So I do already have a SUV so not sure I really need another one even though the VUE is smaller & more fuel efficient. I've also been struggling to determine the differences between the Aura & the Malibu. I will admit to liking the sales approach at the Saturn dealership better than our local Chevrolet dealership. BUT I can use GM card earnings on a Chevrolet & I can't on the Saturn. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks for your input phaetondriver. I want decent mpg, especially in the city b/c of the amount of driving I do with work, errands etc. But I also like comfort. I know wishy-washy |

Did anyone test drive both the XE with the 6 and the XR. I have test driven the XR and really liked the car....but wasn't sure if the $1K or more difference in the two vehicles was worth the additional HP. Any real life stories?

Husband drives about 1,000 miles/month. We have several thousand dollars credit on GM card; not sure how much, I need to check this next week. Husband will not buy foreign made car. He knows many Toyotas, etc. are manufactured here, but he is firm on this. I think our insurance company is going to declare his 2000 Saturn LS a loss (101K miles, has served us well until a recent accident), so we'll get some money from that. We live in northern California so weather is not an issue. We keep our cars a long time. My 1998 Avalon has 166K miles. He wants a 4 cylinder for the gas mileage, but we want the flexibility of installing a car seat in the back for our grandson. Daughter and family live out of state so visits are infrequent. Would appreciate all comments. Thanks so much.

I looked at both a Aura XR and a Malibu LTZ and I have ended up with a Malibu LT2 with the V6 performance package. Why? 1. Malibu LT gives you all the performance of the XR and LTZ but is thousands cheaper. This is expecially true with the XR since there is no negotiating on a Saturn. 2. Malibu has a nicer interior than the Aura. This is my opinion though I think the exterior of the Aura is more upscale looking and Saturns have more exclusivity. 3. The Chevy dealer is way more convenient and non-Saturn GM dealers will not do warranty work on an Aura. Both cars are excellent though, I originally wanted to get the Aura XR but it boiled down to a $3000+ difference and all I really gave up was climate control, fog lights and maybe 1 or 2 other little things. |
