#249 of 547 Power outlet - charger gets stuck
Mar 09, 2010 (11:36 am)
In our Mazda CX9 2010 (purchased 12/24/2009) we have a problem with my wife's cell phone charger getting stuck in the AUX power outlet between the front seats.
We have plugged in several different chargers before in the past few months with no issue. However, this weekend her phone charger went in but it cannot be pulled out- no matter how hard I have tried (without causing damage). It also will not rotate. It is truely stuck.
The Mazda delearship folks say they have had this issue with 4 other customers. They are working with Mazda to report and resolve this. They tell us that they need to order a part (presumably a new outlet) and that when it comes in they will fix the issue under warrentee.
There is also another post where another person said they had the same issue with their dash power outlet. So this issue may be a problem with both the dash and between-the-seats aux outlet.
Besides this issue, we experienced a leaking sunroof (moon roof) which they fixed under warrentee.
We LOVE the car! Looks nice. Drives beautifully. Very comfortable, smooth. In just over 2 months we have but 4,000+ miles on it.
#250 of 547 Windows going down while car was off?
Mar 09, 2010 (3:45 pm)
I have an 08 CX-9. This morning when we unlocked the car with the keyless entry, the front two windows rolled themselves all the way down! This is the only time we have observed this, but being rainy season and for obvious security reasons, we are a little concerned. I did a google search for the issue, but did not find anything. Has anybody else had this problem? We have also had the phantom blower activation as described in post #229, but we have not replaced the faulty relay's yet. I'm thinking it is probably going to be related. Aside from these two issues, the CX-9 has been great, and we would buy another one. Just the right amount of space, power, and options.

I would change the relay ASAP.
A faulty relay can play all kinds of tricks on you.
CX9 windows can be rolled down if you continue to press the unlock button (after the first press?). Anyway, your fob may not be at fault (or maybe), but fix the relay first. It is only a few dollars each.

Wow thanks! We had no idea the keyless entry could roll down the windows like that! My wife must have been holding the button down without realizing it. Well, one mystery solved.
Still love our CX-9!

You can also roll them down by inserting the key into the driver's door handle and unlocking your CX-9 and holding it in that position for a second or so, and you can roll them up by locking it and holding it in that position as well. Just an FYI
#255 of 547 rhythnmic rubbing noise
Mar 13, 2010 (1:13 pm)
I am so frustrated! I loved my Mazda 09 CX9 up until months ago when I noticed a rhythmic rubbing noise when in park....especially at stop signs, stop lights, basically when the car is on and in park or in drive with the foot on the brake (where it is even louder). I can even hear on a loud rainy day. The other day I was next to a loud truck and I was still able to hear the consisten noise...around and around. I was told after several attempts to have it fixed it might be the intake manifold after Mazda's regional engineer came to check it out. Since it's not a mechanical issue I don't know how much more Mazda will do to help. We are in duscussion as to what to do next. I used to have a 2007 CX9 that I leased and I loved it so much that when the lease was up we bought the 2009 CX9. I could have been a sales person for Mazda as I was so excited describing how much I loved my car when strangers or friends would ask me about it. Now this noise is driving me nuts. It's like sleeping in quiet neighborhood and waking up in the city. It wasn't there before so obviously something is going on. I was told it may be normal haromonic noise but a mechanic friend of mine got in the car and the first thing he commented on was what a loud car it was. If it were a normal harmonic noise why did it just recently start happening? He did hear the noise and can't believe it would be an intake manifold. Mazda replaced one off a 2010 car on the lot but there is no difference. My mechanic friend says it's probably in the engine. Do I push for the engine to be replaced? If this rotational rubbing noise wasn't so annoying I would be 100% satisfied with the car. Help?????

Insist on getting it fixed.
It is under warranty. You have all the rights.
That said, it could be many many reasons for the noises.
I doubt it is that hard to pin down if it even happens in idle.
My guess could be the timing chain rubbing. Misaligned timing chain could create loud noises. That is just one of many guesses I could give you. Ultimately, find a dealer (or another one). If no help, call MazdaUSA. Corporate Mazda is one of the most helpful automakers I know. Their dealers, however, is just average.

Well, the surgery for the relays went well. Only thing was I wasn't the surgeon on the case. I cannot tell a lie as much as I wanted the vision to be a woman not afraid to get her nails dirty or broken!! I wasn't afraid to, as I do quite a bit of stall mucking and working around horses. But I went to have my oil changed and when I told them about the TSB, they took care of it. Plus they even replaced my gas cap which somehow I managed to cut the plastic hanger oner off of. Sometimes it feels good to be a damsel in distress!!
I know my next thing is new tires...that I will definitely leave for the boys!!
Thanks again for your help!!
#258 of 547 Seat heater recall (5810B)
Mar 30, 2010 (10:41 am)
This morning I took my CX9 into my local dealership to have the issue looked at, since I received the recall letter from Mazda. The dealership replaced the harness and said that was all that was needed to be done. (Whole unit did not need to be replaced)
