I try to do the speed limit, but I chose the 3.5 over the Hemi because of MPGs,plus what good with all that power if you can't use it.I had a '68 Road Runner in my younger days, never got a ticket, and I didn't obey the speed limits back then.Plus gas was real cheap.I knew the 6 speed Challenger was for 09,but it will be out soon.

For those of you who are a looking at these 2 cars -nows the time to buy as both GM and Chrysler are GIVING them away- -$4 gas has caused Employee pricing-- or in other words buy a car we are in trouble pricing.. Chrysler no longer allowing you to lease cars..

employee pricing on the G8 GT (if you find a dealer willing to cooperate) is a far cry from "giving them away" IMHO. If they start big rebates on top of the employee pricing on this car, then we might be able to make such a statement.

employee pricing is a discount-- and this car is in its first year-- if they had 20k preorders for the G8 it would not be included in this program - so i am making the statement-- and if gas continues to hover around the 4 dollar level you might soon say goodbye to pontiac

why would $4 gas spell the end of Pontiac??
There are plenty of reasons to fold Pontiac without needing to point to the cost of gas.
And, yes, employee pricing is a discount ... sort of. But certainly not the kind of discount GM is throwing at many of their other vehicles (plenty with employee price AND additional rebates). Besides, just because corporate states employee pricing applies to the G8 GT doesn't mean a dealer has to obey. I'm not saying they won't, just that they don't have to.

if you went into a dealer --and they had 5 G8's --and you said you would pay employee price for a car they would do it in a heart beat-- but your right the dealer does not have to obey but why would they not sell the car?? my guess is if you did your homework you could prob due better... so it is a discount -- I can bet they are not giving the same discount on the new corvette blue devil.. --and your right there are many reasons to fold the pontiac brand-- but the fact is 4 dollar gas is making GM (and others) look at the complete product line-- fact is pontiacs present lineup does not sell.. Say the same about hummer, saturn, and sabb.. GM needs to get its house in order-- sell Cars under the Chevy brand.. trucks under GMC and LUX cars under Caddy.. they need a couple of cars that beat Toyota and Honda at there game..

I totally agree with you about GM. They need to downsize its line up! Focus on quality as opposed to the most vehicles on the road. The G8 is the only really good thing they have representing pontiac. The rest of them could honestly disappear, and I doubt anyone would shed a tear. Pontiac, Malibu, Saturn, their all the same cars, using the same buttons, parts, engine, though the looks may have improved, but choosing lower end parts, that is what brings you down. Most of their cars, just remind me of a cheap rental car, a luxury, sporty, wannabe. Though they are getting better, but I would pick an Accord over any GM any day. Now perhaps a Caddy CTS, that would be ok...lol Even then, its too overpriced.

In august pontiac sold less then 1 G8 per dealer in the states--2k cars.. There G5 fuel saving alternative sold just over 1 per dealer..(numbers are published by the wsj) They made the right move borrowing the toyota matrix and rebag it as there own vibe but not looking good for them.
