Replying to: xtec (Mar 03, 2008 9:52 am) THe G8 is boring looking just like the GTO.It has no performance looks to it.The roof line is typical family sedan.The back is plain jane looking.To me The front of the G8 and the rear should be on differant cars.At least the Charger looks like a muscle car.Once again Pontiac failed to have a car that looks like a performance car.Thats what killed the GTO. That killed the GTO because it was marketed as a muscle car. I think the G8 looks worlds better than the Charger (except the faux hood scoops). It's NOT a muscle car, it's a sports sedan. To me, fake hood scoops, flying wing spoilers and lower body cladding scream BOY RACER, not performance. I grew out of that crap about 15 or 20 years ago. Give me a nice, clean, understated design any day. If I want to get attention, I'd buy a Vette or a Mustang or a Challenger. Actually, not a Challenger, no manual tranny! If it looks outlandish, you are more likely to be pulled over and ticketed... Replying to: paisan (Jun 05, 2008 3:38 am) I try to do the speed limit,but I chose the 3.5 over the Hemi because of MPGs,plus what good with all that power if you can't use it.I had a '68 Road Runner in my younger days,never got a ticket,and I didn't obey the speed limits back then.Plus gas was real cheap.I knew the 6 speed Challenger was for 09,but it will be out soon.

For those of you who are a looking at these 2 cars -nows the time to buy as both GM and Chrysler are GIVING them away- -$4 gas has caused Employee pricing-- or in other words buy a car we are in trouble pricing.. If they start big rebates on top of the employee pricing on this car, then we might be able to make such a statement. Replying to: sweendogy (Sep 03, 2008 3:05 pm) why would $4 gas spell the end of Pontiac?? There are plenty of reasons to fold Pontiac without needing to point to the cost of gas. And, yes, employee pricing is a discount ... sort of. But certainly not the kind of discount GM is throwing at many of their other vehicles (plenty with employee price AND additional rebates). Besides, just because corporate states employee pricing applies to the G8 GT doesn't mean a dealer has to obey. I'm not saying they won't, just that they don't have to. Replying to: qbrozen (Sep 04, 2008 7:49 am) if you went into a dealer --and they had 5 G8's --and you said you would pay employee price for a car they would do it in a heart beat-- but your right the dealer does not have to obey but why would they not sell the car?? my guess is if you did your homework you could prob due better... so it is a discount -- I can bet they are not giving the same discount on the new corvette blue devil.. --and your right there are many reasons to fold the pontiac brand-- but the fact is 4 dollar gas is making GM (and others) look at the complete product line-- fact is pontiacs present lineup does not sell.. Say the same about hummer, saturn, and sabb.. GM needs to get its house in order-- sell Cars under the Chevy brand.. trucks under GMC and LUX cars under Caddy.. they need a couple of cars that beat Toyota and Honda at there game..
