Obviously your Unions make it too expensive to build the car there. As for the GTO looking bland, sorry that it didn't have lumps and bumps and sharp un-aerodynamic edges that you are so familier with. ROFL! Replying to: holdenguy (Mar 04, 2008 6:07 am) If you ever saw the original GTO,you would know that it also had lumps and bumps and sharp unaerodynamics edges,as well as the Chevelle,Fairlane,Chargers and Road Runner which I was a proud owner of,which beat the GTOs.Thats is what ruined the new GTO,it wasn't retro lookimg,A G6 looks almost the same,and I don't call that a performance car.

That's good and ok because we're all car guys and wouldn't waste are time on forums such as this if we weren't. However, one shouldn't be affronted by what is fact when it comes to the design of the 2004-06 GTO. I suspect that many of us posting here grew up in the Muscle car age of the mid - sixties and early seventies - I did .We remember a different GTO which evoked a special feeling... something the 2004-06 car never was able to do at any level. The Goat from 1964 to 1972 just clicked with America's youth. The 1973 and 74 versions were not embraced even though they were assembled in America, so it's not just a thing against Aussie designs. And the oil embargo of 1973/74 didn't do as much to kill off the muscle car craze as some would have us think.You had to live in the USA in the sixties and early seventies and to understand. It ( the GTO) was an all encompassing thing -heck , even a part of our music and culture ! BTW , I didn't own one then - I was into SS Chevys and Vettes , but admired and respected those vehicles. Unfortunatly it was a Ford, the Falcon GTHO phase III. A perfect original version of this car sold for about $700k last year. As for GM, we had the original Monaro, then V8 Toranas. While the rest of the world is getting fast, good performance, high mileage cars based on the new Diesel technology in Germany and Hybrid technology from Toyota. The Americans are often building an 8Cyclinder stylish car that looks like it is from the late 90's. If you guys don't wake up in 2009 you will loose another 20% of your market share when many more of these cars come from overseas. Come on US give me a reason to buy American!!! Like my first american care that I bought.

Just wish one of those pics had Olivia Newton John behind the wheel or better yet, stretched out on the hood... she's one of your best exports,ever. Keep an open mind about Ford. I just bought my second (out of 25 plus GM vehicles) in over 41 years of driving. Hint - It's an 08 and Steve McQueen would approve.
