Despite following directions from American Honda I got the suggestion from them to take it to another dealer w/o telling them of previous attempt.
Since my local dealer acknowledged the symptoms we all are describing, but didn't "diagnose" it as a problem American Honda will not pursue it any further.
Anyone know a class action attorney???????
Have an 05 Odyssey that dozens in that forum have complained about alignment issue with multiple TSBs and no working solution found yet.
How do we get Honda's attention?

Your right, Accord -> Camry isn't necessarily up and there isn't anything wrong with the Accord (knock on wood). At this point, it won't be cost effective but...I'm currently out ~$872 because Honda America is "cheap" and can get out of paying by putting the blame on the dealership (who didn't document a visit properly). I'm still out ~$500 because of another dealership/issue. Honda's are supposed to be "Cost Effective" but when I lose ~$1,400 over the course of 1 year, that just plain sucks. I guess that's a hidden cost that Intellichoice and others don't know about. I had addressed some other reasons for buying Camry over Accord above and noticed another last night...go to safercars.gov and watch the Frontal Crash Video for the Accord...The Side Airbags deploy when they "Are Not Supposed To"! Between the new Civic and now the new Accord, Honda's quality control has gone "Way Down". It's not the same Honda that I started buying in 1983...On a side note, after looking pretty closely at Hyundai, it's very tough to deny them. Naturally, not a fan of big rebates but...for what you get it's pretty amazing. People complain about the Japanese Paint (Honda Especially)...Hyundai uses a very similar (slightly refined) method as BMW. They produce their own Steel, the robots used to assemble most Hondas and Toyotas are made by Hyundai...I could go on and on.

I'd consider Hyundai, but I wouldn't take a bath on a car that works (Accord) to do so just because I had my butt up in the air over how Honda treated me and I wouldn't give up on the Civic just yet. Drive the Accord until it's a problem and see what you can do on your own with the Civic, and that includes buying aftermarket adjustable rear control arms and having an alignment shop install them.

Our 2008 EXL sedan had cupping on the inside, and the fatory replaced them 13K. I was alos told this was the first report, back in March. The dealer did all they could to make me happy. If we have 2 people in the rear it feels if we are over loaded. I have looked for better springs or air bags. I have not found anything that would keep stock height.

cz75, I have not been able to find any spring that will only lower the car1/2". That would be great to find a stiffer spring. I don't want to kill the ride, just firm it up to haul 4 people. I have a Lotus 7 for a handling car. The 08 Civic sedan is her car, I just need to make it safe. I will also need to remove the junk OEM tires soon as I doubt if they will make 25K miles.
Do you have any part#'s on the springs with the 1/2" drop?

Regarding the AC issues

We bought a 2006 Civic EX sedan new in Oct 2005 and while the AC seems to work well at cruise speeds I too have noticed the compressor cut off at idle (as in waiting at stop lights) and it will start to blow warm to hot air out the vents. Apparently Honda has only now addressed the problem with this TSB and dealers are still trying to convince owners this is "normal". It may be but I won't accept it now that a reflash is available. So, what we have is 2006-07-08 cars with this issue and Honda may have finally acknowledged it though individual dealers may not have.
Regarding the rear tire wear, that may be one of the few "problems and issues" our early built 2006 Civic does NOT have though the tire wear of the Bridgestones seems poor being more than 1/2 worn 17K miles.

Had this done last week, even though never felt this particular issue, along with the water pump recall and the rear control arms replaced. I still need to send my tire receipts to Honda in hopes that they'll send me back some $, but doubt that they will. Besides that, car's humming along nicely at 16.6k on the odo. Got her detailed on Wednesday and looks great...having the kids drive it for their vacation in August left the inside too messy for me to deal with.
Bought her a new chrome extender for the tail pipe also and even though it looks like the old one, a bit more finished looking. The one last thing I'd like to get is some kind of clear rubber mats to just go over the carpeted one's that came with the car. Is there such an animal like the nice one's i saw in my boss's RX350 today? Hers fit over her carpeted mats just fine. Anyone know where these can be purchased?

We purchased a new 2008 Civic EXL loaded and have done about 1400 miles. We are very satisfied with the car but had noticed occasionally going downhill that the engine seemed to be braking the vehicle, which I thought might be a good thing. Most other vehicles I have owned seemed to gather speed going down hill which required pedal braking. Other than this I have not experienced the other engine speeds you talk about. We were amazed at the gas mileage on our first round trip of 600 miles 600 miles ago we got between 34 and 40 MPG mostly cruising at 68 MPH with ac on, about 45 miles of this was around town. I have not encountered air conditioning problems as I have read about on other forums.

The downhill engine braking you refer to is the "grade logic" function/feature of the automatic transmission. The Civic has had this since 2006 I believe, at least our 2006 has it as well. The vehicle senses a downhill (uphill as well) drive and the transmission shifts down a gear or more than one depending the severity of the grade and keeps the car in that gear or possibly upshifts one gear if the grade lessens. On downhill runs this reduces the need to use the brakes, on uphill runs it minimizes gear hunting (or downshifting then quickly shifting up again only to downshift once again over and over).
