Hi, new here. My teenage son over-tightened the gas cap on my 2006 Mazda 5 and broke it. Now the check engine light is on and the dealership wants $63 for a new gas cap. I may be wrong but that seems excessive to me. Is there any where to get a replacement gas cap for less? Are there any universal-type gas caps that would work? Thanks in advance for any help! Replying to: moftap (Feb 17, 2008 12:33 am) Try on www(dot)onlinemazdaparts(dot)com under fuel system (they have schematics). With regards to the price, you may not find it much cheaper, given the regulations/sensors/etcetera, chances are universal caps are no longer an option.
