2008 XC90 Shaking and rumble by fltri1550

Just bought a new 2008 XC90 and had to return to dealer 5 minutes after driving away as the car was shaking and had a rumble from the rear which varied with road speed. New tires were then put on the car which reduced the shaking but I still feel my legs shaking when driving along. The rumbling from the rear comes and goes and of course does not happen with a mechanic in the car.
Has anyone else experienced anythig similar?

Got my 2008 XC90 almost two weeks ago and had the chance to drive it for almost 500 miles before finding out that the engine's bad. Needless to say, I no longer have it. Addressing your issue, mine was smooth and very comfortable. My wife and I fell in love with the car during the seven days we had it. Something is definitely wrong with your car. It's supposed to drive like a car, I think, mine felt better than a car. I had a seven-seater 3.2 FWD. It was very quiet and smooth. I have a S40 loaner car right now, and I think the XC90 is more comfortable. I should be back on a XC90 again soon. Sorry if I can't provide any info on what's wrong with your XC90. I can only share my experience, no matter how short it was .

We've had our '08 XC90 since January 2nd. No problems with the engine (knock wood) but the mirror compass wasn't calibrated by the factory or dealership. I too turned around within 5 minutes of pick up and, along with someone at the dealership, figured out how to fix it.

Only other issue is the driver side carpet coming up. I seriously doubt that the dealership puts the car through a complete pre pick up inspection.

If you complain on the Volvo survey, it's the salesman that gets dinged...in the pocket. What's up with that???
