Extended Warranties are good thing.. BUT.. it depends on the price you pay for it. If Extended Warranties were $1.. we'd all have them. The Dealer makes money on it for sure.. this is a given. They want to sell EW’s, they make money on it. If the warranties were $1000, we are all less likely to have it. What is it worth to YOU? If you could get a 8 year, 80,000 mile warranty for $500.. is that worth it to you.. KNOWING you have a 3 year warranty already.. so the 8 year is not really 8 years, it's an additional 5 years... so be careful. I do not usually buy the EW, but I did on my 2008 Prius, only because I threw out a number I'd pay, for the 8 year, 75,000 miles, and they took it.. after a bit of talking. I was happy, they were making money.. so go into the dealer with a number in mind, if they agree, take it. If not, you are out nothing. sc |
