An Update on my Case by art234

Just to let you all know, Nissan/Infiniti Corporate has proven to be as untrustworthy as consumer affairs. I spoke to CA about my ongoing case with my M35x and they refused to give me what was promised (one month payment and reimbursement for tires I should not have paid for). I escalated through three supervisors and wound up at Nissan corporate, who told me once an offer is made it CANNOT be retracted, and that he had the power to overrule the region.

The same individual called me back the next day and also refused to give me what was offered, saying he spoke to the region who would not budge...so the bottom line is that Nissan/Infiniti lies to customers and has no interest in either repairing my car or in ongoing customer satisfaction.

I believe my next step WILL be small claims court.

I will keep you posted, but buyer beware--do NOT buy or lease another Infiniti.

"that residual seems way high. I will be dealing directly with the leasing bank, which was not through Infiniti. What would make this a good buy?"

One way to see what the market is doing is to look at what they are going for on auction. After all, that's what the dealer will throw at you when you want to trade.
Or, do an advanced search on ebay for completed items only. This will show what was actually paid - what the market is willing to pay for an item. If items didn't sell, why look at them?

Question on excess wear/use charge at end of lease by nsns

Hi,

My lease on an Infiniti M35 is almost over. During the lease inspection, a small chip/crack was noted on the windshield, and the inspector said the windshield needs to be replaced. On the inspection report, the excess wear/use charge for the windshield replacement is listed as $750. The report shows the windshield as "lane departure", but I do not have the lane departure feature on my car.

I have heard that when returning a lease, it is better to just pay the excess wear/use fee in a case like this because the fee will be less than getting the windshield replaced. The strange thing though is that I can get the windshield replaced for much less than $750, even at the dealer. So now I'm thinking the inspector made a mistake when listing the windshield as a lane departure windshield. I did confirm with the dealer that the replacement of a lane departure windshield would cost over a $1000.

Does anyone know what the lease return excess use/fee should be for a windshield replacement on a 2007 M35? Is it correct that the excess wear/use fee is typically less than what it would cost me to get the windshield replaced?

Thanks.

What you can do is: File a insurance claim to have the windshield replaced and your cost will be your deductible, which will be cheaper ($250 to $500 depends on your policy). Unless you can have the dealer reduce the charge to under $250, which I highly doubt that.

What is the difference it make for the windshield - whether it has the lane departure feature or not. Should be the same.

According to a couple of quotes I got, the windshield replacement costs about $500 more if you have the lane departure option. For example, one dealer quoted me about $600 to replace the windshield. If it was a lane departure windshield, it would cost about $1100.

The lease excess wear/use fee is $750 for damage on what is listed as a lane departure windshield, and that is significantly less than the $1100 cost to replace it. Now in my case, I don't have the lane departure windshield, so I am expecting the lease excess wear/use fee to be much less for this windshield - less than the $600 cost to replace it. I would expect it to be about $300-400. That's still a better option than to get the windshield fixed and pay a $500 deductible.

I'm just having no luck in getting a straight answer from Nissan/Infiniti financial services people. I've been bounced around a few times, twice transferred to the inspection company, only to be transferred back to the Nissan/Infiniti.

I like my dealer, and I've been happy with my car. But dealing with the very poor customer service on the financing side would stop me from getting another Infiniti.

Anyway, I'm still just trying to find out what the lease excess wear/use fee is for a replacement windshield on a normal 2007 M35 (no lane departure option).

Thanks.

Inspection Coming Up by art234

I am having my M inspected Friday morning. It has a couple of small dings (smaller than a quarter) and the only thing is two marks on the front bumper. I wonder if I should let them be or get that part of the bumper sprayed.

The car is 5K under miles, and otherwise fine. Anyone have any idea how picky these guys really are?

I also won't mention the litigation I am pursuing against Nissan/Infiniti for the $1300 they promised me and later reneged on.

If a ding is a bit smaller than a quarter in size, it is not a small ding - it is a small damage, but a big ding for sure - unless it is way smaller than a quarter - like a quarter inch in diameter or smaller. I guess it depends on your dealer and how picky they are. It will definitely hurt the resale value, then they will charge you extra. It also depends on if the paint is damaged or not and where those dings are located.

As far as the paint chip on the front bumper, I would just get the touch up paint from Infiniti and paint it up and it should be fine.

Well Infiniti's rep came yesterday and inspected the M from hell. The only thing they found chargeable was a scraped wheel ($140), which is absolutely scraped. Ironically I only did it 2 weeks ago leaving JFK airport...

I was up front with the guy and showed him everything on the car--we had a couple of laughs and he gave me my printed copy .. I consider myself pretty lucky.

On a brighter note, it appears my new car may be in up to 10 days earlier than planned.....which is great news....meaning I will be rid of the M even sooner !!!

Not bad....sounds like they pissed off so many people that they are changing their tactics.

Once you get the invoice for the wheel, call them up and tell them that many people complain that the rim sticks out further than the tire and if you just glance a curb, the tire does not protect it.

They'll credit you the 140.00

Does anyone know if Infiniti is offering, or is planning to offer a discount off the buyout at lease end? I understand that in November of 08 they were offering $6K off the residual for lessees who stepped up to buy.
